Summary

A 1.75 mm high-speed PLA spool with an RFID tag for Creality’s CFS multi-material system; the material matches non-RFID Hyper PLA, so the tag only pays off on a CFS-equipped printer. Check your printer before paying the RFID premium.

Strengths

  • High melt index (3–5 g/10 min) supports fast flow at high print speeds.
  • Owners report better layer adhesion than most PLA brands, including Bambu.
  • Official store reviewers praise consistency, low stringing and reliable stock.
  • RFID auto-detection and usage tracking work on Creality CFS-equipped printers.
  • Tags are rewritable, and third-party tags make non-Creality filament CFS-compatible.
  • The exact green spool lists at $17.99 at B&H Photo, keeping the downside low.

Weaknesses

  • No independent instrumented test of this filament exists.
  • Owners report repeated nozzle and extruder clogs on an Ender 5-Max after about an hour at 220 °C.
  • Brittle-strand breakage inside AMS units is reported by some owners.
  • Heat-soak failures on large models are reported on K2 printers.
  • The RFID premium only pays off on CFS printers; the material is identical to non-RFID Hyper PLA.
  • The official bundle page lists ±0.14 mm tolerance, conflicting with the ±0.03 mm in the TDS.

Speed and material

An owner printing near 300 mm/s at 220 °C nozzle and 55 °C bed reports good results with tuning. The RFID tag does not change the material: a side-by-side test with the tag removed and settings matched found identical behavior. The tag’s practical benefit is CFS auto-detection and usage tracking; on non-CFS printers it is inert.

RFID and the CFS

On a Creality CFS the spool is auto-identified for material, color and remaining amount, and usage is tracked. Tags are MIFARE Classic and store vendor code, material type, color, nozzle temperature range and pressure advance; the community has reverse-engineered the format because Creality has not published it. Tags are rewritable with third-party phone apps and blank MIFARE tags, so the RFID premium is not a hard lock. Reliability is imperfect: owners report intermittent tag reads on both stock and home-made tags, and in early 2025 a K2 firmware update briefly limited CFS to Creality RFID tags, triggering owner backlash before a workaround appeared. Remaining spool amount is estimated by rewind turns, not stored on the tag.

Quality and owner reports

No instrumented professional test of this exact filament was found from RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET, PCMag or specialist 3D outlets. Owner evidence is genuinely split. On the positive side, owners report better layer adhesion than most PLA brands, consistent and reliable stock, no stringing and no odor after tuning, and a perfect large shipping-container print near 300 mm/s. On the negative side, an Ender 5-Max owner clogged repeatedly after about an hour at 220 °C despite nozzle and extruder replacements; another owner found two Hyper PLA rolls breaking into pieces inside an AMS; a K2 owner hit heat-soak failures around layer 80 on large models; an Ender 3 V3 KE owner saw a quality drop versus stock PLA; and one first spool arrived moisture-clumped. No defect rate is estimable from this evidence.

B&H Photo lists the exact green spool at $17.99 with free shipping (2026-10-16). Creality’s US store lists the RFID line at $21.00, with bulk tiers down to $15.75 per spool at 20 spools (2026-10-16). The non-RFID sibling is $19.99 in the same collection (2026-10-16), and a 4-pack is $59.99 compare-at $71.96, currently sold out (2026-10-16). At $17.99 the RFID convenience is effectively free; at $21.00 it costs a small premium that only CFS owners should pay. The dominant risk is failure-mode spread, so a return path and seller stock matter.

Which model this is

This page covers the 1 kg green Hyper PLA RFID spool: manufacturer item “HYPER PLA-RFD GREEN 1KG”, UPC 799904647137. The same family includes white (UPC 799904647120) and grey (UPC 799904647106) variants. The non-RFID sibling is sold as “Hyper Series PLA 3D Printing Filament 1kg”. Do not merge with Hyper PLA CF, Hyper PETG-CF, Hyper ABS/PETG/PC, or the older “Ender Fast PLA”. RFID and non-RFID Hyper PLA spools print as the same material when settings are matched. Warranty runs up to 12 months on the RFID SKU; the EU non-RFID Hyper PLA carries up to 24 months.
