Creality K1C: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-11

Summary

The K1C’s usual failures are firmware and hotend related: firmware v1.3.5.22 broke LAN camera streaming for several owners, and layer shift, hotend errors and boot freezes are the first items on Creality’s own ten-problem list for this model. Running costs are filament plus the occasional Unicorn nozzle kit, carbon filter and PEI plate, with no subscription or filament lock-in. It is a good buy under about $400 at the Creality US store and poor value above $559, where Creality’s own $299 K1 and the $319 CFS change the math.

Yearly running cost

No yearly total is published in the sources. The recurring spend is 1.75 mm filament, the carbon filter cartridge, an occasional Unicorn nozzle kit at $36.85, a PEI plate at $20.98 and a Teflon tube kit at $8.33 (all Creality US store, 2026-10), plus a filament dryer around $85 if printing hygroscopic materials. There is no subscription and no filament lock-in: files slice in Cura 5.0+ and move by USB stick or LAN with no cloud account. Multicolor adds the CFS at $319.00, which puts a $499 K1C at roughly $818 before spools. [1][3][11][18]

When it is a good buy

Creality US store, 2026-10: $499.00 against a $559.00 compare-at. The same page has also been captured at $369.00, but that figure could not be reproduced and should be treated as an expired promo; the Basic Combo is $386.99 and a SpacePi X4 bundle is $559.19. [11]

Named alternatives:

Warranty: the Creality US store advertises a 14-day return and refund and up to a 12-month warranty, but the warranty page itself is a serial-number lookup tool, so confirm the term for the exact SKU at checkout. [11][19]
