Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

Creality’s high-speed PETG: a 1 kg, 1.75 mm spool in eight colors including Red, tuned for fast desktop and CoreXY printers that already run PETG cleanly. It is not a no-fuss first spool — expect to dry it and tune retraction, and treat 300 mm/s as a ceiling, not a guarantee.

Strengths

  • Published 300 mm/s process ceiling makes it a faster PETG option on flow-capable hotends.
  • Standard PETG-class mechanicals: about 48 MPa tensile, 74.5 °C heat deflection, 83 °C Vicat.
  • Eight colors including Red at one price on the Creality US store.
  • Low entry price: $18.99 on sale at the Creality US store (2026-10-26).
  • Plastic spool and Creality CFS compatibility for automated feeding.
  • 14-day return and up to 12-month warranty per the product page.

Weaknesses

  • No dedicated Creality Print Hyper PETG profile in some versions; first prints can string heavily.
  • Moisture-sensitive: drying at 60 °C for hours is a required step, not optional.
  • 300 mm/s is a ceiling; real wall speed is hotend-flow-limited (about 26 mm³/s).
  • Bed temperature guidance varies from 45 °C to 80 °C across sources, so adhesion needs tuning.
  • No independent instrumented test of exact Hyper PETG; specs are manufacturer-sourced.

Which model this is

This is Creality’s Hyper Series PETG, the high-speed PETG line, not the everyday CR-PETG line. It is a 1 kg, 1.75 mm (±0.05 mm) PETG spool sold in Black, White, Grey, Transparent, Red, Yellow, Green and Blue on the US Creality store. SpoolScout records version v1.0 (2024-07) of the Hyper PETG data sheet. Do not confuse it with Creality’s CR-PETG, Hyper PLA, Hyper ABS, Hyper PETG-CF, or generic PETG reels. The filament label an owner reported reads Speed 30-600, Temperature 220-260, Bed 60-80, Fan 50 %, consistent with the high-speed Hyper variant.

Nozzle 220–260 °C, bed 60–80 °C per the filament label (70–80 °C per the data sheet), fan 0–50 %, drying at 60 °C for 8–12 hours when moisture symptoms appear. Creality’s own guidance treats drying as standard PETG maintenance, not an optional upgrade. Owner reports confirm the moisture caveat: one forum owner prints Creality PETG at 230 °C nozzle and 75–80 °C bed only after active drying, and another’s first Hyper PETG prints produced heavy stringing and stray strands with no dedicated slicer profile to start from. Keep the spool sealed with desiccant between prints.

Speed: what 300 mm/s really means

The differentiator is throughput, not a magic wall speed. Creality’s parameter guide and the third-party data sheets put the process ceiling at 300 mm/s, with nozzle 220–260 °C and bed 60–80 °C. Owners should treat 300 mm/s as a ceiling to test, not a default.

Is it worth it?

At about $19 (Creality US store sale, Red included), it is a low-risk way to test faster PETG on a printer that already runs PETG cleanly, if the operator accepts the drying and tuning overhead. Around $22–25 the case weakens toward standard CR-PETG or a known-good generic; above about $30 the speed premium rarely justifies the tuning effort unless the printer can use the 300 mm/s flow and dry storage is already in place. Buy it to shorten a PETG queue on tuned hardware; skip it as a no-fuss first spool or when the printer still struggles with standard PETG.
