Summary

A 1 kg, 1.75 mm PLA spool with an embedded RFID tag that lets a Creality CFS or K2 Plus recognise the material and colour automatically. Check whether you actually own a CFS reader before paying extra: without one the spool prints as ordinary PLA and the tag does nothing.

Strengths

  • Owners report layer adhesion better than most PLA brands, with clean prints and easy support removal.
  • Fast-printing formula, claimed up to 600 mm/s with 300 mm/s typical.
  • The RFID tag lets a CFS or K2 Plus pick up the material and colour automatically.
  • One owner reports a year of trouble-free RFID Hyper PLA use across steady work.
  • Rewritable MIFARE Classic 1K tags work with Creality’s own and third-party apps.
  • Works on ordinary printers too, including older Ender models, if you enter settings manually.

Weaknesses

  • Creality’s default Hyper PLA RFID profile caps slicing at 50 mm/s unless you change it.
  • A minority report moisture, clumping or stringing on first open, which needs a drying step.
  • Extruder clicking above roughly 17 mm³/s volumetric flow on some K2-series toolheads.
  • CFS units sometimes choose the wrong reel, in one case through a suspected faulty RFID sensor.
  • Without a CFS reader the spool is ordinary PLA and the tag adds nothing.
  • No independent instrumented test of this exact filament exists, so speed and tolerance remain manufacturer claims.

RFID and the CFS ecosystem

The tag is the whole point of this SKU. With a CFS-equipped printer such as a K2 Plus or K2 Max the spool is recognised automatically, which is what the multicolour workflow depends on. Without one, it prints as plain PLA and you type the settings in yourself. The tags are MIFARE Classic 1K and can be rewritten with a phone app, so you are not locked to Creality’s own spools, and the filament-remaining amount is estimated by rewinding turns rather than stored on the tag. Recognition is not flawless: one K2 Plus owner saw the system default to the wrong reel colour, suspected to be a faulty CFS sensor.

Speed and slicing

Creality markets the Hyper formula at up to 600 mm/s, but its own K2 Plus page says 300 mm/s is the typical printing speed, and Creality’s slicing guide warns that the default Hyper PLA RFID profile limits slicing to 50 mm/s unless you change it. Community settings reports land around 220–230 °C, and a forum reply suggests keeping volumetric flow near 17 mm³/s on K2-series toolheads versus about 14 mm³/s for regular PLA. Treat all of it as a starting point and run a flow test.

Moisture and upkeep

The most common complaint is a first spool that arrives damp and needs drying, with clumping and stringing until it is dried and tuned; the same owners report perfect prints afterwards. A few users have seen brittle filament snap inside an AMS unit, and one thread reports poor results after switching to Hyper PLA on an Ender 3 V3 KE. Dry the spool if you suspect moisture, run a flow test, and keep the flow within what your hotend can push.

Is it worth it?

For a CFS or K2 Plus owner, the RFID version is the right buy: Creality’s US store lists it at $21.00 (2026-10-16) against a $31.90 compare-at, with volume pricing down to $15.75 at 20 spools, and the automation is what you are paying for. For everyone else the non-RFID Hyper PLA at $19.99 is the same base material for about a dollar less, so the tag buys you nothing. Either way, expect to dry it and set your own profile.

Which model this is

This is the RFID version of Creality’s Hyper PLA, a distinct SKU from the non-RFID Hyper Series PLA line. Don’t confuse it with Creality’s other Hyper materials, including Hyper ABS, Hyper PETG, Hyper PLA CF and Hyper PC, which behave differently. Confirmed available RFID filaments are Hyper PLA RFID and Hyper PAHT-CF.
