Creality Hyper PLA RFID 1.75mm (Brown): problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-17
Summary
Most owner reports praise layer adhesion and speed, but a recurring minority find the first spool damp, clumped and stringy until it is dried. The spool has an embedded RFID tag for Creality’s CFS and K2 Plus, so its value depends on owning that ecosystem. At Creality’s US store price of $21.00 it is a fair buy for CFS owners; without a reader the non-RFID Hyper PLA at $19.99 is the better choice.
Common problems and fixes
- Moisture, clumping and stringing on first open — one owner’s first Hyper PLA spool was a hard clump that needed a lot of drying and produced stringing; the same owner later printed perfectly after drying and tuning to a 220–230 °C sweet spot. [5]
- Extruder clicking at high volumetric flow — a K2 SE owner saw clicking and slipping at about 0.95 flow and 220 °C; a forum reply suggests about 17 mm³/s for Hyper PLA and 14 mm³/s for regular PLA on that toolhead. [9]
- Brittle filament snapping in AMS units — one owner reports two rolls and colors failing with breakages inside an AMS, brand new and sealed. [7]
- CFS/RFID misreads — a K2 Plus owner saw the system default to the wrong reel color, suspected to be a faulty CFS RFID sensor; SimplyPrint advises that a Generic or Hyper material version works on all CFS firmware if a tag is not detected. [13][14]
- Default RFID profile caps speed — Creality’s own K2 Series guide warns not to use the default Hyper PLA RFID profile, because slicing is limited to 50 mm/s unless it is changed. [3]
- RFID and non-RFID spools print differently — one owner’s test of the same red color printed differently from RFID and non-RFID spools, but with the tag removed and settings entered manually the filament behaved the same. [8]
- Regional warranty badges differ — the US store shows up to 12 months, while the EU store shows up to 24 months for other materials. [1]
Parts and consumables
No replaceable parts or consumables reported.
Yearly running cost
A typical owner spends only the filament itself; there are no replaceable parts, pods or subscriptions. Not enough data to put a firm yearly figure on it.
When it is a good buy
Creality’s US store lists the 1 kg RFID spool at $21.00 against a $31.90 compare-at (Oct 2026), with volume pricing at $17.85 for five, $16.80 for ten and $15.75 for twenty; the non-RFID Hyper PLA is $19.99 against $32.99. For a CFS or K2 Plus/K2 Max owner the RFID tag buys automatic material recognition and the multicolor workflow. Without a reader, the non-RFID Hyper PLA at $19.99 is the better choice, since the base material appears identical and the tag adds nothing.
