Creality Hyper PETG 1.75mm (Black): problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-17
Summary
Owners on enclosed K2-class printers report extruder-gear softening and jams on the stock profile, and one forum owner logged about 30 failed prints. There are no replaceable parts; the only optional cost is electricity for drying. At Creality’s US store price of $18.99 it is a reasonable budget PETG for owners who can tune the profile.
Common problems and fixes
- Extruder-gear softening on enclosed K2 printers — on a K2 Plus with the stock profile the filament softened and jammed the gears after about 15 minutes on solid infill, reproduced across three rolls; the fix is to enable the chamber fan at 100%, raise the nozzle to 260 °C black / 265 °C white, drop flow to 0.92, or open the door. [6]
- Nozzle gumming at high flow — a K2 report needed an external spool and a 290 °C nozzle to stop gumming, with tradeoffs at that temperature. [23]
- Rough layers and extrusion faults — one forum owner logged about 30 failed prints with rough surfaces and “printing without extruding” errors across 235–255 °C, reduced speeds, a volumetric limit cut from 23 to 10 mm³/s, pressure-advance changes, cold pulls and 65 °C / 6 h drying, with no repeatable result. [24]
- Spec sheets disagree — current store pages claim up to 600 mm/s, a 190–260 °C nozzle and a 45 °C bed, while the v1.0 data sheet says 300 mm/s, 220–260 °C and 70–80 °C; expect to tune between them. [3][5][7]
- Regional warranty badges differ — the US store shows up to 12 months and the UK store up to 24 months on the same product. [1][7]
Parts and consumables
No replaceable parts or consumables reported.
Yearly running cost
A typical owner spends only the filament itself plus any electricity for drying; there are no filters, pods or subscriptions. Not enough data to put a firm yearly figure on it.
When it is a good buy
Creality’s US store lists the 1 kg spool at $18.99, down from $25.99 (Oct 2026), with quantity tiers at $16.14 for five, $15.19 for ten and $14.24 for twenty. Creality’s EU store lists it at €29.99 from €44.99, the UK store at £18.99 from £21.99, 3DJake in Switzerland at CHF 21.50/kg, PB Tech in New Zealand at NZ$23.48 plus GST, and Creality’s Canada store at CA$27.99 from CA$35.99. At the $25.99 list price the case weakens, and above about $30 per kg established PETG brands with longer public track records are the safer comparison. A high-flow PETG such as the HF PETG a PB Tech reviewer compared it to is the better choice when you do not need the Hyper formula.
