Creality Hyper Series PLA 1.75mm (Very Peri): problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-17
Summary
Most owners report the spool arriving damp, which causes popping and stringing until it is dried at 50 °C. There are no replaceable parts; the only optional cost is a filament dryer if moisture keeps recurring.
Common problems and fixes
- Moisture on arrival — owners report popping and stringing right out of the sealed bag, and one spool arrived as a hard clump; drying at 50 °C for about 4 hours clears it, though Creality ships the spool vacuum-sealed with desiccant. [9][11][12][5]
- Grey and red colorway inconsistency — individual grey or red rolls can fail first- or third-layer adhesion, or chew the extruder gears, while sibling colors from the same purchase print fine; drying, glue stick, a hotend swap and temperature changes did not fix one grey roll. [12][13]
- Residual PETG in the nozzle — a K2 SE owner’s stringing and wall cracking came from leftover PETG after a material swap rather than the filament; purge the nozzle before running Hyper PLA. [15]
- Heat-soak gear chewing on K2 — a K2 owner reported extruder gears chewing red Hyper PLA with layer gaps, attributed to chamber heat softening the filament near the hotend. [13]
- Regional warranty badges differ — the US store shows up to 12 months and the UK store up to 24 months on the same product; a bad roll is handled through Creality’s 14-day return policy. [1][7]
Parts and consumables
No replaceable parts or consumables reported.
Yearly running cost
A typical owner spends nothing beyond the filament itself; there are no filters, pods or subscriptions. The only optional cost is a filament dryer at about $50–100 if moisture keeps recurring. Not enough data to put a firm yearly figure on it.
When it is a good buy
Creality’s US store lists the 1 kg spool at $19.99, down from $32.99 (Oct 2026); Creality’s EU store lists the line at €22.00 from €32.99, and the UK store at £18.99 from £22.99. US bulk tiers drop the per-spool price to $16.99 at five, $15.99 at ten and $14.99 at twenty. B&H lists the RFID variant at $17.99, and a May 2025 hands-on review paid $33 for a white 1 kg spool.
If you own a Creality CFS or K2 Plus multi-color box, the RFID plastic-spool version at B&H for $17.99 is the better choice, because the standard paper spool is not recommended for CFS.
