Summary
A budget silk PLA in the Golden Red colorway, with a full manufacturer parameter table and a 1 kg spool that fits standard FDM printers. It is a decorative filament: expect moisture sensitivity, per-color tuning and the usual silk-PLA clog risk, and treat the strength numbers as maker figures rather than test results.
Strengths
- A complete published parameter set (nozzle, bed, speed, cooling, tolerance) to start from.
- Standard 1.75 mm diameter on a 1 kg spool, with Creality claiming 99% FDM printer compatibility.
- Glossy silk finish that needs no post-processing.
- Per-color item numbers make the exact spool identifiable from non-Amazon listings.
- Manufacturer-sourced material figures of 35 MPa tensile and 67 MPa bending.
- Sold direct from Creality and through mainstream third-party retailers.
Weaknesses
- No independent laboratory test of this filament was found; the strength figures come from a single retailer listing.
- Diameter tolerance is quoted as both ±0.02 mm and ±0.03 mm depending on the listing.
- Silk PLA is more sensitive to moisture and heat creep than standard PLA.
- Community threads report clogging, partway failures and inconsistent shine, needing per-color calibration.
- Colors in the family behave differently, so a profile that works for one CR-Silk spool may not transfer.
- The 35 MPa and 67 MPa figures are manufacturer-sourced and unverified, so they say little about finished prints.
Verified specifications
| Material | PLA with polyester-like additives that give the silk finish. |
|---|---|
| Diameter | 1.75 mm, tolerance ±0.02 mm (some retailer listings quote ±0.03 mm). |
| Net weight | 1 kg spool; 1.29 kg gross; 12 spools per 16.5 kg carton. |
| Dimensions | spool 210 × 210 × 75 mm. |
| Nozzle temperature | 190–230 °C; recommended about 200 °C. |
| Bed temperature | 50–60 °C; recommended 50 °C. |
| Print speed | 40–80 mm/s; recommended 50 mm/s. |
| Cooling | one listing runs the fan at 100% from layer 2 up; Creality leaves cooling to slicer defaults. |
| Strength | 35 MPa tensile and 67 MPa bending, from a retailer listing that mirrors Creality material data. |

Print settings and handling
Creality publishes a single CR-Silk row that covers every color: 190–230 °C at the nozzle, a 50–60 °C bed and 40–80 mm/s, with recommended values of 200 °C, 50 °C and 50 mm/s. The K1C high-speed profile for silk runs hotter and faster (230 °C, 45 °C, 120 mm/s, 10 mm³/s), but that is a machine-specific preset, not the general spec. Community threads describe the usual silk-PLA friction: heat creep and clogs helped by better hotend cooling, wetted spools that balloon and fail partway, and shine that varies until flow is tuned per color. Creality’s own troubleshooting line suggests drying PLA at 40–45 °C for four hours if humidity is suspected, and a filament dryer is a reasonable extra if you print silk often.
Creality’s US store lists it at $19.99 against a $28.99 compare-at price, while a Newegg third-party seller lists it at $24.99 (both, October 2026). That puts the direct price near the bottom of the budget silk-PLA bracket, and the published parameter table is the main thing you pay for beyond the finish. Above roughly $30 the spool stops competing with established silk brands that have more community history, so buy direct when you can and skip the marked-up reseller listing.
Which model this is
Creality sells one CR-Silk spool across many colors, and the Golden Red variant carries item number 3301120009 (the plain Golden color is 3301120001). The line is sometimes relabeled “CR-PLA Silk” or “Silk PLA” by retailers, but the spool and specification are the same. The listing for this color is ASIN B0CF2136M7. Confirm the item number, because the colors share a specification sheet and differ only in dye and additives, which is also why print behavior can drift between colors.
