Summary

Creality CR-Silk is a 1.75 mm silk-gloss PLA filament on a 1 kg spool, sold in Gold and other metallic-look colors for decorative prints. Check your slicer profile before you buy: silk PLA needs per-color calibration, and Creality does not publish a print-temperature range or a diameter tolerance for it on its US store page.

Strengths

  • Glossy silk finish aimed at decorative and display prints.
  • A wide color range: 12 store options, including metallic-look silks.
  • Normal silk-PLA pricing on Creality’s US store in October 2026, falling to $14.99 a roll at 20.
  • Creality’s community rates the CR tier above its budget Ender filament.
  • Prints on most FDM machines, including Creality and Prusa printers.

Weaknesses

  • No published print-temperature range or first-party diameter tolerance on Creality’s US store page.
  • Owners dispute the “neatly wound” claim, reporting jams and AMS feeding problems.
  • Silk PLA needs per-color calibration; owners report inconsistent shine and slight under-extrusion at stock PLA settings.
  • Silk PLA is weaker and more brittle than standard PLA, so it is a poor choice for functional parts.
  • Some owners steer silk buyers to other brands, and Creality filament is called priced wrong outside bulk.

Printing it

Silk PLA is not standard PLA with a color added. The pigments and additives that produce the gloss change how the filament melts and cools, so a profile that works on plain PLA can under-extrude or come out dull. Creality’s own forum thread on silk settings recommends calibrating each color with a temperature tower, flow and pressure advance instead of trusting a generic profile, and makers of competing silk lines advise slowing the outer wall for better shine.

Owners printing silk PLA on Creality machines start around 205–210 °C nozzle and 60 °C bed. Creality’s broad PLA guidance tops out higher, and the 190–230 °C band matches what competing silk spec sheets quote, but Creality does not publish a CR-Silk-specific temperature on the US store page.

Spool winding and feeding

Creality’s store calls the spool “neatly wound”, and that claim is the one owners push back on hardest. An r/3Dprinting thread on Creality winding shows owners disputing it, and one commenter argues a tightly wound spool is more likely to jam in an AMS-style multi-material unit than a loosely wound one. Independent filament comparisons also note silk PLA can puff and jam in AMS/MMU setups, so budget for some tuning and the odd failed print.

Creality’s US store lists the 1 kg CR-Silk roll at $19.99 against a $28.99 list, with multi-roll pricing of $16.99 at five rolls, $15.99 at 10 and $14.99 at 20 (Creality US store, October 2026). The international VIP Mall lists it at $21.85, and the EU store shows €25.99 against €36.99. A 2026 PLA roundup put mainstream PLA around $14–20/kg and Sunlu Silk PLA+ near $15/kg, so a single roll sits near the top of that band and the 20-roll price lands mid-band. The only running cost is the filament itself; there are no other consumables.

Is it worth it?

At $15/kg or less, which is the 20-roll bulk price, it is fair-to-good for decorative silk prints, because that is below the band silk normally sits above. Between $16 and $20 a single roll is fairly priced for a silk variant, but you are buying without an instrumented test and should expect to tune each color. For functional parts, the lower strength of silk argues for standard PLA at the same price.

Which model this is

This page is the Gold CR-Silk 1.75 mm PLA, 1 kg spool, Creality item number 3301120001. The line also includes Red Copper (3301120002), White (3301120004), Purple (3301120005) and Blue (3301120006); the two-tone Golden-silver and Golden Red are separate items. Don’t merge CR-Silk with Creality’s Hyper PLA, Ender PLA, CR-PLA or CR-Wood lines. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0BZCZH556.
