Summary
A 1.75 mm, 1 kg black spool of PLA filled with 15% carbon fiber, giving stiff, matte parts with low warp. Buy it for stiffness and finish, not strength: independent testing found carbon-filled PLA is not stronger than plain PLA in tension and is weaker along layer lines.
Strengths
- Stiff, matte prints with minimal visible layer lines.
- Keeps PLA’s easy printing and low warping.
- Priced near plain PLA at $19.00 direct from $28.99, down to $14.25 a spool at 20 units.
- Fits brackets, jigs and display parts where rigidity and finish matter.
- 1.75 mm on a 1 kg spool is the common standard.
- The only listed color is black, which suits functional parts.
Weaknesses
- Carbon fill is abrasive and wears brass nozzles; a hardened nozzle is needed.
- Not stronger than plain PLA: lower impact strength, lower elongation and weaker layer lines.
- Standard-speed only; Creality’s own K1C table tops out at 150 mm/s and 11 mm³/s.
- The hardened nozzle the material requires is a cost not shown on the product page.
- No independent test of this exact spool exists; the surface reviews are affiliate articles.
- Owner complaints about brittle Creality PLA are general, not specific to this variant.

Stiffness, not strength
The reason to choose carbon-filled PLA is rigidity and a matte finish, not tensile strength. All3DP’s comparison of PLA and CF-PLA from the same maker found slightly higher XY tensile strength but lower strength along layer lines, lower impact strength, lower elongation and higher stiffness, and concluded CF-PLA is not the right pick if you want a stronger version of PLA. A widely reported independent test reached the same result, with PLA-CF weaker than plain PLA in all three axes. Read the product page’s “high hardness, strong rigidity” wording as stiffer, not stronger.
Nozzle wear and printing profile
Because the filament carries carbon fiber, it abrades the nozzle. Creality warns that composite filaments increase nozzle wear and says to use abrasion-resistant or high-hardness nozzles, and independent coverage makes the same point about brass wearing quickly. That hardened nozzle is the hidden cost of the cheap spool. On settings, Creality’s K1C table lists 220°C nozzle, 45°C bed, a 150 mm/s best speed and 11 mm³/s maximum flow, while a community database lists 195-230°C and 25-60°C. This is a standard-speed filament; do not expect high-speed-printer throughput.
What you pay
Creality’s own store lists the spool at $19.00 from $28.99, with volume pricing of $16.15 each at 5, $15.20 at 10 and $14.25 at 20. Above roughly $25 to $30 per kg it loses its price edge over better-documented CF-PLA from dedicated material brands.
Which filament this is
This is CR-PLA Carbon, PLA with 15% carbon fiber on a standard-speed printer. Do not confuse it with Creality’s Hyper PLA-CF, a newer product with only 4% carbon fiber and printing rated up to 300 mm/s, or with plain CR-PLA. A sold-out Creality “CR-Carbon 1.75mm PLA” listing exists, but its relationship to this spool is not documented, so treat it as a possible older name rather than the same product.
