Summary

A plug-in PTC forced-air heater and controller for an enclosed 3D printer, aimed at experienced owners printing ABS, ASA or PC who can route wiring and manage ventilation. Check fit and thermal safety before buying: the casing and airflow can overheat sensitive printer parts, and the heater is not a factory-certified drop-in for any specific machine.

Strengths

  • Measured chamber temperatures of about 60–65 °C in some owner-modified enclosures, enough for ABS and ASA in those setups.
  • Standalone controller allows a chosen temperature and timer without modifying printer firmware.
  • Two circulation fans move heated air; the 1–48 hour timer supports long prints.
  • Advertised safety shutoffs on fan failure and PTC overtemperature.

Weaknesses

  • Fit is not guaranteed: the heater is too large for some K1C installations and can blow hot air at a rear stepper.
  • Actual chamber temperature trails the controller setpoint; one K1C owner saw about 59 °C with a 70 °C setpoint.
  • Heated enclosures can fault printer electronics and cameras; one owner reported shutdown near 41 °C.
  • External exhaust can create positive chamber pressure and fume leakage; one October 2026 K2 owner reported about 57 °C with a 100 °C bed.
  • No independent certification or failure-rate data; protection features are design claims only.

Fit and thermal safety

Fit is mechanical, not guaranteed. One K1C user found the larger heater would not fit without blowing hot air at the rear-bottom stepper and chose a smaller module instead. An X1C owner drilled and cut a side panel to mount it. Owners of K1 Max report faults and camera loss at elevated chamber temperatures, including a shutdown near 41 °C. A K2 owner mounted the heater outside the enclosure and saw positive chamber pressure with visible seam leakage while printing ASA and ABS. Use independent temperature probes at more than one point, keep hot air away from steppers, motors, electronics and wiring, and provide safe exhaust.

Running costs

No subscription or software license applies. Electricity dominates: at an assumed $0.20 per kWh and a constant 400 W draw, 5 printing hours per week for a year is 260 hours, 104 kWh and $20.80; 10 hours per week is 520 hours, 208 kWh and $41.60; 20 hours per week is 1,040 hours, 416 kWh and $83.20. A closed-loop thermostat should reduce element duty cycle once the setpoint is reached, but actual draw was not logged in a controlled test, and one source lists the unit at 300 W rated. Printer bed and exhaust power are extra.

Alternatives

BIQU lists a Panda Breath plus filter pack at $108.88 (BIQU, 2026-10-25), a 300 W PTC unit with a 60 °C max target and built-in filtration for supported Bambu machines. Chitu Systems lists an H2 resin heater at $51.99 (Chitu Systems, 2026-10-25), intended for small LCD and MSLA chambers rather than high-temperature FDM enclosures. For printers without a safe retrofit path, prewarming with the built-in heated bed remains a practical alternative workflow.

Which model this is

This page covers the plug-in Creality Chamber Heater, US-plug part 4005010103, also sold under model HM-01 with UPC 6977905740826. Creality also lists EU (4005010101), UK (4005010115) and Australia (4005010174) versions. It is a heater and controller only, not a 3D printer, spool dryer or factory chamber heater. Retailer listings use different identifiers, so match the US plug and part number before buying.
