Summary
A single-spool dryer box that heats one 1 kg roll at 45–65°C with an upgraded PTC heater and a second-generation temperature and humidity sensor, aimed at PLA, PLA+ and some PETG or ABS/ASA. Check that the delivered unit is the exact Space Pi SE (model DB-02S) and a 110–120 V US plug, because the listing name does not match the model and US voltage is unconfirmed.
Strengths
- Upgraded PTC heating and a second-generation sensor are the real changes over the older Dry Box 2.0.
- A simple single-spool layout with a dial and display avoids accounts, apps and material cartridges.
- The 65°C ceiling covers Creality’s own suggested starting points for PLA, PETG and ABS/ASA.
- An SE owner reported the chamber display settling around 9–11% RH while feeding filament through the lid.
- The one-reel body is small and light at 237 × 266 × 99 mm and about 1.06 kg.
- Reported energy use is low: 0.05 kWh for a one-hour 65°C run.
Weaknesses
- No independent instrumented test of the SE exists; most specs come from retailer and manufacturer copy.
- The 65°C ceiling misses Creality’s own 70°C starting point for TPU and the 80–90°C nylon grades.
- US voltage and a US-plug variant are unconfirmed; retailer pages list 220–240 V and 100–240 V.
- An SE owner’s rotary encoder seized about six weeks after purchase, making temperature and time unusable.
- The timer spec conflicts on one page: a 1–48 h table against a 24-hour bullet.
- Sibling Space Pi models draw complaints about fan noise, humidity creeping back and tubes that slide into the chamber.

What it is and what changed
The Space Pi SE (DB-02S) is Creality’s refreshed single-spool dryer. It replaces the Dry Box 2.0’s heating wire with an upgraded PTC heater and adds a second-generation temperature and humidity sensor, silicone sealing at the filament feed-through and thermal inner insulation. The temperature range stays 45–65°C and the rated power is 135 W. It is not the older Space Pi DB-03 (45–70°C) or the two-spool Space Pi Plus, and Creality’s own US compare page and 2026 buying guide do not list the SE at all.
Drying and the humidity reading
There is no instrumented independent review of the SE. The closest hands-on evidence covers sibling models: a Gaming Trend test of the Space Pi Plus cut severe PETG stringing after an eight-hour dry, and an owner’s own test of the older DB-02 took an eSUN PLA+ spool from about 50% to 26% chamber RH over three hours at 50°C, with probes reading 51°C near the top and 49°C halfway down. Those results are clues, not validation of the SE.
The display shows in-box relative humidity, which is an air property rather than the moisture inside the strand. Owners across the wider family report a sensor floor near 15% RH, and one SE owner saw 9–11% while feeding filament through the lid. Dry for a set time and use a separate sealed container with desiccant for storage.
Controls, faults and repairs
One direct SE owner report describes a rotary encoder that seized about six weeks after a July purchase; the knob stopped turning and clicking, and the reseller sent a screen and knob without the encoder or instructions. That is a single self-reported case, not a failure rate.
Older Dry Box 2.0 threads describe erratic screens after a 65°C run, intermittent “00” temperature readings and a unit that cycled off and on every second. They show a family risk around inexpensive controls and sensors, not proof the SE fixed or kept the fault. No SE parts catalog, service manual or warranty statement for the SE specifically was found, so treat dial trouble as a warranty claim rather than a repair.
Running costs
No subscription or cartridge is required. The only mandatory cost is electricity: the retailer-reported 0.05 kWh for a one-hour 65°C cycle works out to about $0.08 for an eight-hour session at an assumed $0.20/kWh, or roughly $8.32 a year for two sessions a week. If the unit instead drew its full 135 W for eight hours, the same schedule would be about $22.46 a year. Optional storage supplies are separate.
No US retail price for the SE was confirmed. The maker’s VIP Mall lists the exact SE at $57.92 but defaults to an EU plug, and a US-plug code 4005010129 is listed without a verified US checkout. The older Dry Box 2.0 shows $35.99 (from $55.99) but is sold out, and the Space Pi DB-03 is $66.00. At the same money, a SUNLU S1 Plus is $39.99 and a two-spool Sovol SH02 is $59.99 with a 40–70°C range.
Which model this is
This page covers the Creality Space Pi SE, model DB-02S, sold under the listing name “Creality 2026 New Upgrade Filament Dryer Box Pro”. It is not the older Space Pi DB-03 (45–70°C, 145 W) or the two-spool Space Pi Plus, and the predecessor Dry Box 2.0 uses a different US-plug code. The Amazon listing for this model is ASIN B0CJ2YVVFM.
