Summary
A brushed-motor V20 two-tool kit, model CMCK201D1: a CMCD702 drill/driver rated at up to 300 UWO and up to 90 holes per charge, plus a CMCF801 impact driver rated at up to 1,800 in-lbs and up to 120 fasteners per charge, sold with one 2Ah battery and a charger. Check the warranty before buying, because the kit page states “No Warranty” while the individual tool pages state a 3-year limited warranty.
Strengths
- Runs on the widely available CRAFTSMAN V20 20V MAX battery platform, with interchangeable batteries across the V20 line.
- VERSATRACK-compatible, with LED lights on both tools and a storage bag in the box.
- Ace Hardware lists the kit at $149.00.
- Interchangeable V20 batteries and chargers are widely available, and VERSATRACK clips let the tools hang on a wall system.
Weaknesses
- Both tools are brushed, not brushless, so power and runtime sit below CRAFTSMAN’s own brushless RP tools.
- Only one 2Ah battery is included in the box.
- No independent instrumented test of the exact CMCD702 or CMCF801 was found; the nearest measured tests cover different tools.
- Warranty conflict: the kit page says “No Warranty” while the individual tool pages say 3 years.
- Torque figures disagree between CRAFTSMAN (1,800 in-lbs) and Lowe’s (1,700 in-lbs) for the same impact driver.

Measured and tested context
No independent instrumented test of the exact CMCD702 drill/driver or CMCF801 impact driver was found from RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag. The nearest measured results are for different tools and should be treated as indicative only. TechGearLab tested the closely related brushed CMCD700C1 drill (rated 280 UWO versus the CMCD702’s 300 UWO), ranked it #10 of 17 with an overall score of 61/100: drilling 6.6, driving 6.2, ease of use 5.9, battery life 4.8 and weight 6.0. It drilled a 5-in hole saw through in about 55 seconds but stalled in high gear and ran hot, could not fully drive a large lag screw (left about 5/8 in proud) and completed only about four battery cycles on the included 1.3Ah pack.
Ownership and reliability
Owner evidence is thin and anecdotal. A Garage Journal participant who bought several discounted V20 tools called them “not bad tools,” and one CRAFTSMAN tools Facebook group member reported a CMCD702D1 drill still going after two years. These are single impressions, not reliability data. A common theme frames the brushed V20 tools as budget or DIY grade and recommends the brushless RP versions when more power or runtime is needed. No warranty-repair, battery-failure or chuck-failure pattern for the exact kit could be verified from the sources read.
Both tools use the common V20 battery and charger system, so batteries and chargers are widely available and interchangeable across the V20 line. VERSATRACK clips are not included. No user-serviceable internal parts channel or published parts diagram for the exact kit was found beyond the downloadable instruction manuals.
Other-retailer reference points observed: Ace Hardware lists the CMCK201D1 kit at $149.00. Acme Tools shows “See Price in Cart” or out of stock and lists no manufacturer’s warranty. CRAFTSMAN’s own CMCF801D1 and CMCD702D1 are sold separately, with no first-party list price captured. Pro Tool Reviews listed the newer brushless CMCF830 at $119 at the time of its test, a different tool included only for class context.
Ownership cost drivers are extra V20 batteries (only one 2Ah battery is included), VERSATRACK clips and accessories sold separately, and drill and impact bits. There are no cord or carbon consumables.
At a low price it is a reasonable light-duty household kit; near the price of CRAFTSMAN’s own brushless RP tools it is hard to justify the brushed versions. If sustained drilling or large-fastener driving is needed, weight the TechGearLab result on the sibling CMCD700C1, which scored notably below premium drills on battery life and heavy drilling.
Which model this is
This page covers kit CMCK201D1: the brushed V20 combo with CMCD702 1/2-in drill/driver and CMCF801 1/4-in impact driver, one CMCB202 2Ah battery and a CMCB101 charger. UPC is 198706075320 and country of origin is China. Do not confuse it with CMCK201D2 (same two tools with two 2Ah batteries), CMCK200C2 (older CMCD700 drill and CMCF800 impact driver), CMCK211C2 (brushless RP kit with CMCD713/CMCF813) or CMCK404D2 (4-tool kit reusing the same CMCD702 and CMCF801). The CMCF801 impact driver is also sold alone as CMCF801D1. The Amazon listing for this kit is ASIN B0GZ8CJ96L.
