Summary

A wireless gaming headset with 50 mm drivers, a USB 2.4 GHz dongle and Bluetooth 5.2, positioned around $100–120. Check wireless reliability before you buy: all three reviews from February 2023 report dropouts, and there is no 3.5 mm fallback when the battery dies.

Strengths

  • Sound that handles games and music well; GamesRadar notes more low-end body than the HS80.
  • A clear microphone — GamesRadar called it one of the clearest and richest mics in all of headset-dom.
  • Light at 275 g with memory foam cushions, comfortable for long sessions.
  • Dual connectivity: USB for the game, Bluetooth for calls, with easy switching between them.
  • USB-C quick charge: 15 minutes gives about 6 hours.
  • PS5 Tempest 3D audio support.

Weaknesses

  • USB mic dropouts: Tom’s Guide’s mic cut out in testing and needed a restart with the dongle reinserted.
  • Bluetooth is less stable than the USB dongle and sometimes needs re-pairing.
  • Battery life disappointed: 24 hours on USB was below competitors at the time of review.
  • No 3.5 mm port, so a dead battery means no wired fallback.
  • Tight fit with imprecise headband adjustment; the frame does not flex much.
  • SoundID and 7.1 surround underwhelm — two of three reviewers preferred the default settings.

Sound and microphone

All three reviews praise the sound. Tom’s Guide describes a full, balanced default soundscape and says music performs better than expected for a gaming headset. GamesRadar notes strong stereo performance with more low-end body than the HS80, helped by the tight seal of the pleather-and-fabric cushions. IGN rates the Dolby Audio 7.1 surround competent on PC and Mac, and Tempest 3D audio works well on PS5. GamesRadar finds 7.1 distracting and prefers plain stereo.

The microphone is the standout. Tom’s Guide calls the pickup excellent with minimal background noise. GamesRadar goes further: one of the clearest and richest mics in all of headset-dom. The boom mic flips to mute but does not detach, which limits non-gaming use.

Wireless and battery

Corsair claims up to 24 hours on 2.4 GHz and up to 37 hours on Bluetooth. GamesRadar measured 20+ hours on 2.4 GHz and did not test Bluetooth independently. IGN confirmed 24 hours on 2.4 GHz. Tom’s Guide called 24 hours disappointing next to competitors at the time of review, though GamesRadar found 20+ hours sufficient for all-day use.

The USB dongle is USB-A only, and no USB-C adapter is in the box — Tom’s Guide called that a bit dated. The power and Bluetooth buttons on the right earcup sit next to each other and feel identical, so accidental presses are easy. Bluetooth cannot stream audio while USB wireless is active; it handles phone calls instead. The headset pairs to two devices at once but cannot play two audio streams at the same time.

USB-C quick charge helps: 15 minutes gives about 6 hours. There is no 3.5 mm port, so a dead battery means the headset stays dead.

Comfort and build

At 275 g the HS65 Wireless is light for long sessions, with a padded aluminum chassis and oval earcups. The memory foam cushions use leatherette outside and fabric against the skin. Tom’s Guide and IGN both flag a tight fit. The metal headband has no discrete notches, so adjustment is imprecise, and IGN says the rigid frame does not flex much — glasses wearers may find better options. The Carbon black color attracts fingerprints.

Is it worth it?

Tom’s Guide reviewed it at $120 in February 2023 and said it would be more compelling at $100. GamesRadar listed it at $120 / £120 and called it good value with dual wireless and solid battery. IGN listed the MSRP at $119.99 and rated it good (7/10), with SoundID the main disappointment. At $100 or below, it is worth a second look for the sound and the mic. Above $150, Tom’s Guide notes, competing headsets such as the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 are stronger packages.
