Summary
A boil-only 1.7 L stainless-steel kettle (COMFEE’ model CEKS002) for households that want fast hot water, auto shutoff and nothing fancier. Check the model number before you buy: the brand’s own pages mix CEKS002 with a glass CEKG001 and a windowed CEKS001, and reseller listings copy the confusion.
Strengths
- The water-contact interior is 304 stainless steel, an advantage over a wholly plastic heating chamber.
- The 360-degree base allows cordless pouring from any side, and the cord stows underneath.
- The spout scale filter pulls out for rinsing, so hard-water scale is routine maintenance, not a repair.
- A written one-year warranty and a real PDF manual exist at the manufacturer’s US shop.
Weaknesses
- Boil-only: no preset temperatures, no keep-warm, no readout — the wrong tool for green or white tea and pour-over coffee.
- The single-wall body gets hot in normal use and the lid vents scalding steam; the manual tells you not to open it while water boils.
- There is no external water-level window, so checking how much water is left means popping a hot lid.
- At about $23, an out-of-warranty thermostat or base failure is not economical to repair, and COMFEE publishes no model-specific parts catalog.
- The warranty claim means postage prepaid to COMFEE and up to 60 days after receipt for repair or replacement — real money and time on a $23 kettle.
- No independent lab test or verified failure-rate study exists for this exact model; treat its longevity as unknown.
Verified specifications
| Capacity | 1.7 L (about seven 8-oz cups); fill between the marked minimum and maximum. |
|---|---|
| Power | 1500 W at 120 V / 60 Hz, roughly 12.5 A while actively heating; the manual wants any extension cord rated at least equal to the appliance. |
| Dimensions | 8.66 × 5.91 × 9.65 in; 1.8 lb unfilled (manufacturer figures, not independently weighed). |
| Filled weight | water alone adds about 3.75 lb at a full 1.7 L, so a full kettle is much heavier than the empty figure. |
| Interior | 304 food-contact stainless steel with a concealed heating element; single-wall body, plastic handle and lid parts. |
| Controls | push-button lid release, on/off lever with a red indicator light; no temperature presets, display, keep-warm or timer. |
| Base | 360-degree rotating and detachable for cordless serving; the cord wraps underneath. |
| Protections | Strix thermostat, automatic steam-triggered shutoff at a boil, boil-dry thermal protection. |
| Spout filter | removable scale sieve that lifts out for washing and drying. |
| Warranty | one year limited for original US direct-store purchasers; the product page badge reads 365 days. |
| Care | two fresh-water boils discarded before first use; wipe the exterior with a damp cloth, never immerse the kettle or base. |

Boiling speed and everyday use
The heater is a concealed 1500 W element, and physics sets the floor: heating 1.7 kg of water from 20°C to 100°C takes about 0.158 kWh before losses, roughly 6.3 minutes at an ideal continuous 1500 W. COMFEE’s global pages promote a 5–7 minute boil, but that claim belongs to related variants such as the CEKS001, and nobody has published a controlled full-fill benchmark for this exact kettle. Serious Eats independently tested 24 kettles and did not include it; TopCrate’s praise leans on aggregated marketplace opinion rather than instrumented tests. Plan for a normal boil and a broad spout, not a gooseneck pour.
Scale, cleaning and running costs
The manual’s descaling routine is cheap: fill with 0.5 L of white vinegar, top up with water, leave it standing for over an hour, empty, wipe, then boil and discard fresh water. Repeat as needed. Don’t boil undiluted vinegar and never immerse the base. White scale and reddish marks are common kettle maintenance, not a proven defect: Fellow’s and Xiaomi’s care documents explain why mineral film can look rusty and usually dissolves with vinegar or citric acid. Persistent pitting or flaking that survives correct descaling is a different matter — stop using the kettle and pursue the seller or warranty.
Electricity is the real running cost. A 7-minute full-power boil draws about 0.175 kWh, which is $0.035 at $0.20 per kWh. One boil a day for a year works out to $12.78; two a day, $25.55. Descaling four times a year uses 2 L of vinegar; at an assumed $3 per gallon (3.785 L) that is about $1.59 a year. Add the $22.99 maker reference, $12.78 of electricity and $1.59 of vinegar and a first year of daily boiling comes to about $37.36; later years run about $14.37 before any repair. Spread over two years the purchase price adds $11.50 a year; over five, $4.60. None of these are observed life or metered energy — they are calculations with stated assumptions.
Model confusion: check the number, not the photo
The US shop page heading lists this kettle as CEKG001/CEKS002, but CEKG001 is elsewhere the brand’s glass kettle. An eBay listing for a silver kettle carries MPN CEKS002 and the model string CEKS001 on the same card; another mixes in features from other kettles, and reseller cards advertise 160–205°F presets that belong to COMFEE’s variable-temperature model, a different product. The CEKS002 body has no window — if the photo shows one, the listing is for another kettle. Read the rating plate on the original packaging before accepting a substitution.
Warranty, parts and repairs
The written warranty is one year, limited, for the original US direct-store purchaser, and it excludes wear, misuse and unauthorized repairs. A claim starts at officialservice@comfeeappliance.com with receipt and fault evidence, then prepaid shipping to COMFEE; the company reserves up to 60 days after receipt to repair or replace. Ask whether a prepaid label is offered before mailing — on a $23 kettle the postage can rival the price. Third-party orders are not automatically covered by the direct-store policy, and marketplace sellers display conflicting warranty and model data.
There is no public model-specific parts catalog: no thermostat, contact ring, filter or lid at sensible shipped prices, and the manual sends anything beyond cleaning to an authorized technician. A used CEKS002 base alone has been listed on eBay at $11.99 or best offer (eBay, 2026), but that is a resale listing with no kettle vessel, not an official part. Owners in r/BuyItForLife describe lid breakage, thermostat failures and shorter-than-expected life across several kettle brands; those threads are about other models, not this one. Nobody has published a CEKS002 failure rate, so treat longevity as unknown.
Is it worth it?
For $20–25 delivered it is fair value for plain boiling, and the maker reference is $22.99 at shop.feelcomfee.com (2026). From $26 up the single wall is harder to defend: COMFEE’s own double-wall 1.7 L is $29.99, and a Chefman 1.8 L stainless at Target was $23.99 with normal Target returns. Target sells a Hamilton Beach 40880 1.7 L at $32.99 with its own one-year warranty, so paying more than that for a basic boil-only COMFEE is hard to argue. If temperature control is the point, COMFEE’s variable-temperature 1.7 L and the Chefman Custom-Temp are both $39.99. An open-box CEKS002 on eBay asked $39.87 with free shipping in 2026 — above the maker reference, and a resale unit without warranty transfer.
