Full research notes and sources

Battery life and charging

HyperX rates the battery at 17 hours, tested at 50% headphone volume, with a 3-hour charge time over USB-C. Laptop Mag and TechRadar both found the 17-hour claim credible in 2020 testing, and IGN’s closely related 7.1 variant met the same claim. There is no spare battery and no wall adapter in the box; the cable is less than 2 ft long. Owners should expect to recharge rather than swap.

Audio and microphone

The microphone is serviceable but mellow; several owners report it cutting out or muting entirely after days or weeks, and pairing problems between the headset and its USB adapter recur in owner threads. The SoundGuys battery and isolation measurements are for the Xbox variant and do not apply to this PlayStation model. There is no EQ software for this model; HyperX NGENUITY on PC only exposes basic volume and a surround toggle.

Comfort and build

The frame uses steel sliders with soft foam and fabric cushions, but the plastic build feels cheap for the price and the clamping force is strong enough that some owners struggle to adjust the fit. The microphone is not detachable and there is no 3.5 mm jack.

Is it worth it?

Value drops above roughly $90 to $100, where competitors such as the Corsair HS70 Pro and SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless enter the conversation. The mic and pairing reports mean buyers should confirm retailer return and warranty terms before buying. HyperX lists the White-Blue variant as out of stock on its US site at $79.99, with a ROW price of $111.10, so availability and price vary by region.

Which model this is

This page covers the PlayStation variant, SKU 4P5J1AA, in White-Blue, for PS5, PS4 and PC. Do not confuse it with the Xbox Wireless variant (model HHSS1C-DG-GY/G, Xbox Wireless protocol) or the wired Cloud Stinger, Cloud Stinger Core, Cloud Stinger 2 and Cloud Stinger Core 7.1 USB models, which use different connectivity. The Amazon listing for this headset is ASIN B08BTHXJFN. HyperX/HP backs it with a 2-year warranty.
