Summary
A 2.5-liter evaporative humidifier for nurseries, with a replaceable paper wick, a nightlight and three soundscapes. The catch is upkeep: the filter needs replacing every 5–7 weeks, and owners report musty wicks when they skip the weekly dry-out.
Strengths
- Mistless evaporation avoids the sprayed droplets and white mineral dust that ultrasonic units leave with hard tap water.
- The 2.0’s removable grill, spacer and wide tank opening make the wet path easy to reach and clean.
- The nightlight and three soundscapes can replace separate nursery accessories, and scent use is optional.
- New 2.0 filters fit every Bedside and Nursery generation and come in singles and multi-packs.
- Parents on Babylist praise easy cleaning and quiet operation, and report a closed nursery stays noticeably more humid.
- A six-month household test of the related Bedside 2.0 measured a modest humidity gain, a mild scent and easy cleaning.
Weaknesses
- Filters must be replaced every 5–7 weeks, and owners report musty or discolored wicks far sooner.
- The fan is not silent and the tank gurgles, which some owners say disturbs infant or adult sleep.
- Some owners see little humidity gain in an open room, and testing with a hygrometer is the only fair check.
- The filter cannot go in the dishwasher and must dry separately each week; probes and the motor casing need wiping.
- Canopy’s own fine print says the antimicrobial treatment does not protect against bacteria, viruses or other disease organisms.
- Manufacturer directions disagree on the filter-reset press, listing both 10 and 30 seconds.

Running costs and filters
Canopy recommends a new wick every 5–7 weeks, and a 45-day subscription cadence works out to roughly 8 replacements in a full year of continuous use. The standard Canopy 2.0 filter is $19 one-time or $14 on a 45-day plan; a three-pack is $57 one-time or $42 per 135 days, and the official two-pack is $38 one-time or $28 on subscription. Buy them direct from Canopy. At $19 each that is about $152–171 a year; on the separate filter plan it falls to roughly $112–126, and the device-purchase plan advertised at $10 a filter lands near $80–90. One warning: owners who skipped the weekly dry-out have thrown wicks away every 1.5–2 weeks, which pushes the real total well past Canopy’s estimate.
Mold, odor and cleaning
Nobody has published a Nursery 2.0-specific failure rate, so treat growth and odor reports as maintenance signals rather than a known defect. A Nursery 2.0 owner reported filters smelling within 1.5–2 weeks against an advertised 45-day interval, and Canopy support told them to dry the filter completely every 5–7 days. Another owner reported apparently moldy patches after five days, with no laboratory identification. The practical routine: empty and refill with fresh water, top-rack wash the wet-path parts, wipe the probes and fan area, and let the wick and tray air-dry fully at least weekly. Replace a hardened or foul-smelling wick. Older pre-2.0 Canopy mold complaints describe a fixed grill; the 2.0 has a removable one, so do not read those posts as proof of the same problem.
Noise and humidity gain
The fan produces ordinary broadband noise, and the tank gurgles intermittently, sometimes every 10–30 minutes, which can disturb sleep; Babylist lists noise among the downsides. On output, some parents who had the Nursery 2.0 for about a month still found the room dry, while others say a closed nursery is noticeably more humid. Because evaporation is invisible, judge it with a room hygrometer rather than watching for mist. Canopy’s coverage figure is a marketing rating, not a promise that the unit will reach a target humidity in a cold, open room.
Is it worth it?
Canopy sells the standard White unit at $159 one-time, or $149 upfront on a device-plus-filter plan that then bills $10 every 45 days; Babylist lists the White Starter Set at $159 and Nordstrom lists the Nursery 2.0 at $159. The integrated light, sounds and aroma kit are what you pay over a plain evaporative unit. For a smaller room without those extras, a Vornado EV100 lists at $69.99 and uses a $14.99 two-pack wick; for a larger tank and app control, a Levoit Classic 300S lists at $69.99 at Target but is ultrasonic, with the mineral and cleaning tradeoffs that brings. The related Canopy Bedside 2.0 lists at the same $159.
Warranty and support
The standard warranty runs 12 months from purchase and covers manufacturing defects for the original US buyer with proof of purchase; filters and aroma consumables are excluded. The optional Lifetime Protection Plan is not an unconditional lifetime warranty: extended coverage is tied to an eligible active Aroma Subscription with at least 2 refills in each 6 months, and it lapses if that subscription stops. Canopy advertises a 60-day device return window, subject to its current handling-fee terms. The Reddit owner with the musty filter reported useful help only after contacting several agents, and another commenter says support asked for a noise video, so individual handling varies.
