Summary
A mid-range ergonomic task chair from Branch Furniture for users 5'0" to 6'0", praised for long-session comfort and design. Check the armrests before you buy: their notched height adjustment is the one near-universal complaint in reviews.
Strengths
- The lumbar support slides by hand — no levers to fail — and the V-shaped back draws repeated praise.
- Nylon casters roll smoothly on both carpet and hardwood.
- CNET named the Verve its office chair of 2024 for aesthetics, lumbar support and durability; Tom’s Guide gave it Editor’s Choice.
Weaknesses
- The armrests adjust in clumsy notches, can reset to the bottom after about ten of them, and get knocked out of position when grabbed.
- Tall users report the chair is still too short at maximum height; one owner fixed it with an about $30 gas cylinder.
- r/OfficeChairs users report the fabric pilling quickly, and Branch staff confirm pilling is normal wear, not a warranty-covered defect.
- No headrest in the box; the $59 add-on may not fit open-box chairs.
- All independent coverage is short-term; there is no multi-year durability evidence.

Comfort, fit and height
Branch rates the Verve for users 5'0" to 6'0" and up to 275 lbs, with a 16.4-20.5 in seat range. Fit is the catch: tall owners report the seat is still too low at its highest setting. One r/branchfurniture owner solved it by replacing the gas cylinder with an about $30 aftermarket part. If your desk is high, measure before you buy.
The armrest problem
Every hands-on review lands on the same flaw. The armrest height adjusts in notches, not a smooth lift: reviewers describe clicking up one notch at a time, the arms auto-resetting to the bottom after roughly ten notches, and arms getting bumped out of position when you grab them. Yahoo/Creative Bloq, after three months of use, called the multi-notch mechanism “a massive misstep”. If armrest fit matters to you, this is the one spec to test in person.
Warranty, pilling and wear
Branch covers the Verve for 7 years on parts and components; open box drops to 3 years and fabrics to 3. The warranty is void if non-original parts are installed, excludes marketplace purchases, and covers manufacturing defects only — a Branch staff member wrote on Reddit that normal wear like pilling is not typically covered. That last point matters here: r/OfficeChairs users report seats that “start pilling quickly”, while one r/branchfurniture owner reports no pilling at all. Nobody has published a failure rate, so treat pilling as a known wear item rather than a defect.
The only optional part is the Verve Headrest ($59, 12 × 3.5 × 9.5-11 in), which installs in minutes. Branch warns owners to check chair compatibility first, and open-box chairs may not accept it. Running costs otherwise are zero: no consumables, no parts that wear on a schedule.
Is it worth it?
Branch’s US site lists the Verve at $599 flat across colorways, and an r/branchfurniture owner reports paying $540. Reviewed saw $549 for the Galaxy colorway in 2023, and CNET noted a 20% markdown to $511 in July 2024. At $550 or below it is a strong value if you want design-forward ergonomics; at $599 it is fair — you pay for comfort and looks while accepting unknown long-term durability and the armrests. Open box runs $479-559 direct but carries only the 3-year warranty. Branch Canada lists CAD $699.
Which model this is
This page covers the Verve Chair (standard size), Branch’s mid-range ergonomic task chair, sold in 3D-knit colorways including Galaxy, Petal, Coral, Mist, Mint, Cobalt, Wheat and Lunar. Do not confuse it with the Branch Ergonomic Chair, Ergonomic Chair Pro, Aire or Softside, which are different products with different adjustments and prices. The Amazon listing for the Verve is ASIN B0CK3NSMM6. In 2025-2026 Branch recalled the Ergonomic Chair — not the Verve — for backrests detaching; that is a brand signal, not a defect in this chair.
