Summary

Branch’s entry-level ergonomic task chair with vegan leather upholstery, rated for 225 lbs and listed at $259 direct. No independent outlet has tested this exact model, so check the fixed seat depth and your own back before you buy.

Strengths

  • The only independent hands-on test, a three-month theSkimm review of the mesh version, reported no lower-back pain and a sturdy feel after months of use.
  • Assembly takes under an hour; theSkimm’s editor did it alone.
  • Five focused adjustments cover the essentials: seat height, armrest height, tilt, tilt tension and removable armrests.
  • Branch backs the chair with a 5-year parts warranty, and the mesh version uses 70%+ recycled content.
  • Press pull-quotes call the chair comfortable, modern and well priced, though Branch’s own storefront reviews are first-party and curated.

Weaknesses

  • In r/OfficeChairs, owners report the seat base rocking back and forth when reaching across a desk; one called the Daily Chair “the worst chair I’ve ever purchased” for low-back pain.
  • The armrests are unpadded polymer, and theSkimm’s editor reported elbow discomfort against them.
  • The vegan leather upholstery carries only a 3-year warranty, versus 5 years for parts.
  • No instrumented test of this exact model exists, and multi-year durability is unknown.
  • The vegan leather premium (+$60 at resellers) buys looks, not ergonomic upgrades.

What owners say

Owner evidence here is thin and mixed. In r/OfficeChairs, one owner writes that “Branch makes cheap and wobbly chairs” and that the seat base rocks when reaching across a desk; another calls the Daily Chair “the worst chair I’ve ever purchased” because of low-back pain. A Branch staff member on Reddit steered a user with lower-back pain to the Ergonomic Chair instead, describing the Daily as great for lighter use — 4-6 hours, against Branch’s own 6-8 hour marketing. A separate owner of the Ergonomic Chair reports the seat too long at its shortest setting for a 5'5" user, which matters here because the Daily’s seat depth is fixed at 19 in. These are anecdotes from a handful of threads, not defect rates.

Upholstery and the vegan leather premium

Branch sells the Daily Chair in nylon mesh and in vegan leather; at reseller OfficeChairsUSA the leather adds $60. TheSkimm’s three-month test covered the mesh version only, so nobody has reviewed how the vegan leather wears. Branch rates all fabrics, vegan leather included, at 3 years — half the parts warranty — and excludes damage from cleaning chemicals. If you buy the leather for looks, weigh the shorter fabric warranty against how the material ages.

Warranty, wear and running costs

The 5-year parts-and-components warranty is the chair’s main long-term promise. It is not automatic everywhere: third-party purchases need registration within 7 days of delivery plus proof of purchase, while direct Branch purchases do not. It is void if original parts are swapped, excludes improper installation and non-office environments, and covers continental US and Canada only. Open-box chairs carry 3 years. Branch also sells Extend protection covering accidental rips, tears and stains. There are no consumables and no scheduled parts; normal wear, including any leather aging, is on you.

Is it worth it?

Branch lists the Daily Chair at $259 direct in the US, up from $249 in May 2022; Branch Canada lists $329 CAD. At $259 it is a reasonable budget pick for 6-8 hour days inside Branch’s 5'0" to 6'0" fit range — with the wobble, low-back and seat-depth caveats above. The vegan leather variant at reseller pricing runs about $319 and is harder to justify. Branch’s own Softside Chair costs $299 and is Wirecutter’s style pick; above $300 for this model, the value is poor.
