Sound and dialogue

Bose’s 3.0.2 layout puts five speakers plus a center tweeter in a bar 27.34 inches wide, so it fits under most screens. It decodes Dolby Atmos and uses TrueSpace to upmix non-Atmos material. Dialogue is the strength, helped by A.I. Dialogue Mode, which toggles in the Bose app. Two microphones handle Amazon Alexa voice control; Google Assistant works through a connected Google Home device. PCMag measured 2.21 × 27.34 × 4.09 inches and 6.9 lb and found simple setup with clear audio. TrustedReviews found wide, expansive Atmos for the size and good clarity, but limited bass and an artificial tonality for music.

Bass, music and room fit

Bass is the weak point without an optional Bose bass module; booms and low frequencies lack heft. Music can sound synthetic next to rivals. The bar is meant for rooms around 10 ft × 12 ft. Up-firing and side-firing speakers must not be blocked, and Bose does not recommend an enclosed cabinet. Keep at least 1 cm (0.4 in) clearance behind the unit.

Setup, connectivity and calibration

One HDMI port (eARC/ARC only): no HDMI inputs for source passthrough, and optical does not carry Dolby Atmos. Wireless options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect and multi-room grouping with other Bose speakers. ADAPTiQ room calibration is not included. Bose does not publish a frequency range or driver power output.

Is it worth it?

Bose lists the soundbar at $549.00. The value case is a compact 27.34-inch Atmos bar with clear dialogue and built-in voice control in one unit. It is weaker if you want deep bass, HDMI switching or ADAPTiQ calibration, which competitors in the same class offer. Budget for a Bose bass module or consider a larger bar if bass or music fidelity matters. Optional costs: BoseCare Protection Plan $79.95 (two years after the limited warranty), BoseCare Accident Protection Plan $119.95 (three years), and a matching wall bracket $49.00. The bar ships with a one-year limited warranty; replacement parts and accessories go through Bose customer service.
