Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A corded 120 V dual-mode random-orbit sander for shops that want one tool for fine finishing and aggressive stock removal. Confirm you are buying the 5-inch GET65-5N and not the 6-inch GET75-6N sibling, because retailer pages often swap the two.

Strengths

  • One tool covers both fine finishing and aggressive stock removal with the mode selector.
  • Bosch rates turbo mode at roughly 3x the stock removal of standard random orbit.
  • Die-cast aluminum gear housing and a dual-bearing pad mount reduce wobble.
  • Bosch publishes a real spare-parts channel keyed to part number 3601B57010.
  • Replaceable carbon brushes make it a serviceable design.
  • Owners call it compact and smooth-running with good dust collection.

Weaknesses

  • No independent instrumented lab test of the exact 5 in. model was found.
  • The 5 in. turbo mode is aggressive and not a general-purpose setting.
  • The 0.09 in (2.25 mm) orbit removes stock more slowly than the 6 in. GET75-6N.
  • It ships without a case.
  • One owner finds it bulky once a dust hose is attached.
  • No confirmed street price from a non-store source, and parts availability can change.

What the dual-mode switch does

The defining feature is the mode selector. In Mode 2 (standard random orbit) it is a fine-finishing sander for less durable surfaces and final polishing; in Mode 1 (turbo direct-drive eccentric orbit) Bosch says it removes stock at roughly 3x the standard rate and positions it as an alternative to a belt sander. The manual recommends turbo for very rough surfaces and buffing, so it is not a general-purpose setting. The 3x figure is a manufacturer claim; no instrumented removal-rate test was found. Some third-party listings inflate it to “up to 5 times”.

Build and handling

The body is 13.7 in. long and weighs 5.3 lb, with a die-cast aluminum gear housing, a dual-bearing pad mount, a tapered soft-grip slim design, an auxiliary handle that mounts on either side and a removable front pad guard. A multi-hole pad takes a wide variety of 5 in. abrasive discs, and the tool ships with a medium-hardness backing pad; some retailers list a soft pad instead. The included VAC024 adapter fits 35 mm, 1-1/4 in. and 1-1/2 in. hoses. The manual recommends open-coat aluminum oxide discs for most wood and metal sanding and silicon carbide discs for plastics, glass or stone.

Which model this is

This page covers the corded 5 in. GET65-5N, Bosch part number 3601B57010, UPC 000346634952. Bosch’s page and the factory manual list it at 5 in., 6.5 A and a 0.09 in (2.25 mm) orbit. Do not confuse it with the 6 in. GET75-6N, which is 7.5 A with a 0.18 in (4.5 mm) orbit and a 5.7 lb body; some listings quote the 6 in. model’s specs for the 5 in. tool.

The listing is ASIN B07XF1XBP2.

A confirmed street price from a non-store source was not established, so treat the retailer snapshots as dated. Acme Tools listed it at $269–$299 (2026), Ohio Power Tool at $329, and ToolUp, Burns Tools and PowerHouse Tool Supply at $365, with PowerHouse quoting a $399 MSRP. A deal aggregator showed $269 against a $365 reference, and one RetailMarket listing showed $449.49 against $566.99. Outlier listings of $117 look like drop-ship or marketing noise. Pro Tool Reviews reported $279 in 2019. The case for this tool rests on the dual-mode feature, Bosch build quality, the replaceable-brush design and a real parts channel; without the GET75-6N’s larger pad and orbit, the 5 in. model needs a price advantage against competing 5 in. random-orbit sanders.

Parts, service and warranty

Routine ownership means replacing 5 in. discs and backing pads and adding a hose if you want dust extraction. Bosch publishes a dedicated spare-parts page keyed to part number 3601B57010, and a 2019 parts list enumerates individual components such as the power supply cord, grommet, cable clip, bevel gear, cover disc and screws. The manual directs service to a Bosch Factory Service Center or Authorized Bosch Service Station, says to use only genuine Bosch parts, and notes that carbon brushes are replaceable as a wear item. Warranty is 1-year limited from the date of purchase, and normal wear items are excluded. Certification labeling is a retailer-versus-manual discrepancy: the manual shows CSA and Intertek marks, while one retailer table says ETL listed “No”.
