Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A 5.5-inch, 1440p baby monitor with two cameras on a no-Wi-Fi local link, sold as the two-camera BBM16 kit. The advertised 1,600 ft range is far above the maker’s own documented figure, and there is no recording or phone viewing, so check both before buying.

Strengths

  • 1440p on both the 5.5-inch screen and the two cameras.
  • Two cameras with split-screen and scan mode cover two rooms from one monitor.
  • No Wi-Fi, cloud or app, so no subscription and no internet exposure.
  • A 7,800 mAh battery with 35-hour VOX and 240-hour deep-sleep claims.
  • Remote 355° pan and four alert types, including sleep and cry detection.
  • A hands-on reviewer could see the baby’s chest rise before the baby cried.

Weaknesses

  • No independent lab test of this exact model was found.
  • No video recording and no phone access, so you cannot make clips or check from elsewhere.
  • The 1,600 ft claim is far above bonoch’s own documented range of about 250-300 m open area.
  • Tilt is given as 100° in the bullets and 110° in the comparison table, and VOX as 35 or 38 hours.
  • Alerts are off until you enable them, and the predecessor’s temperature sensor read 3-5 °F high.
  • Exact-model owner evidence is essentially absent, and bonoch publishes no battery-replacement procedure.

Range and connection

bonoch advertises 1,600 ft, which is roughly 488 m. A support FAQ says one test reached 1,500 ft in open space, but the same support page gives much lower practical guidance: about 250-300 m open area, up to three concrete walls of 15-20 cm each, or about two floors vertically. Beyond that envelope bonoch documents laggy video, delayed audio, slow response and disconnection, with Wi-Fi devices, microwaves and other high-power electronics named as interference. Keep the antenna fully upright.

Battery and alerts

The parent unit carries a 7,800 mAh battery, with claims of 15 hours regular use, 35 hours in VOX and up to 240 hours with Deep Sleep. bonoch’s comparison table says up to 38 hours in VOX instead of 35, so treat both as manufacturer figures. Alerts cover cry, motion, temperature and sleep/turnover but are not active out of the box: enable them on first use and place the camera 1-2 m from the crib. bonoch’s own sleep guidance says moving objects near the camera and blankets over the baby both cause nuisance alarms. A free firmware update is advertised as improving sound quality.

Recording, night vision and image

There is no recording and no phone app, so the monitor cannot save clips or be checked remotely; that is a design choice rather than an omission. Night vision is automatic infrared, and the 1440p screen is sharp enough that a hands-on reviewer could see the baby’s chest rise before a cry. In split-screen, only the camera highlighted with the green frame supplies live audio at that moment, and two-way talk has about a one-second delay, so press and hold before speaking. Repairability is undocumented: bonoch publishes no parts catalogue, battery-replacement procedure or spare-battery price.

Running costs, parts and value

There is no subscription, cloud service or app, so the mandatory recurring cost is nothing. bonoch sells a Baby Monitor Mount for $19.99, and exact-compatible add-on cameras exist; a 2026 eBay open-box add-on camera sold for $49.97 and a third-party replacement parent unit listed at $149.15. Two-camera pricing varies by seller: Walmart listed the kit at $170.99 and Best Buy at $179.99 in October 2026, while Newegg listed the exact BBM16 at $229.99 from a third-party seller. bonoch’s own page is confusing, showing $159.99 against a $169.99 original next to a one-camera selector and $129.99 in a comparison card; a prior holiday promotion put the Pro at $99.99. At $170 or less the kit is reasonable for a buyer who wants no Wi-Fi, two cameras and 1440p without a subscription. Above $200 it is hard to justify.

Which model this is

This page covers the bonoch Baby Monitor Pro in its 5.5-inch, 1440p form, and specifically the two-camera kit. bonoch’s support site uses BBM14 for the one-camera version and BBM16 for the two-camera version, with BBM14-RX monitor and BBM14-TX camera firmware packages.

ASIN B0D6227W3Y

Do not confuse it with the MegaView 7 and 10, the 4.3-inch model, or the older Long Range Baby Monitor, which was 1080p with a 7,200 mAh battery.
