Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A rechargeable 2.4 GHz gaming mouse with an 8,000 Hz wireless polling option and a PixArt PAW3950-class sensor, sold direct by Bloody USA at $59.99. Check the weight claim before you buy: the brand’s US store lists 84 g while its own manual and two hands-on reviews say 64 g.

Strengths

  • High-end sensor: PixArt PAW3950 with stable tracking reported up to 10.1 m/s.
  • Crisp, short-travel main clicks praised by two independent reviewers.
  • Spare PTFE feet and grip tape included in the box.
  • Rechargeable design with wired fallback if the battery dies.
  • Direct US price of $59.99, 25% below the store’s own $79.99 reference.

Weaknesses

  • Wireless-only 8,000 Hz; wired mode tops out at 1,000 Hz.
  • No Bluetooth, so phones and tablets need a receiver or adapter.
  • Battery is glued in and not a supported replacement part.
  • Dock uses a captive cable and needs the nano receiver inserted to extend range.
  • Windows-only configuration software; no confirmed Mac or Linux support.

Battery life and charging

The maker claims up to 80 hours, with 15 minutes of charging for up to 20 hours. The claim does not state a polling rate, and high polling draws more power. GECID recommends 2,000–4,000 Hz as often enough. A full recharge takes about 1.5 hours per GECID’s spec table. The cell is 300 mAh at 3.7 V, roughly 1.11 Wh, and the manual warns against charging below 0°C or using anything but a 5 V source.

Weight and variant confusion

Grip tape and spare feet can add weight. A third-party guide lists 145 g, 650 mAh and 500 Hz wireless, which does not match this mouse and should be ignored. The SG5 Pro is a different model with 8,000 Hz wired and 100-million-click switches; do not apply its specs to the standard SG5.

Software and compatibility

Configuration uses the Wireless 8KM-Esport Editor, posted August 28, 2026, for Windows 10 and 11. It stores three profiles in 512 KB of onboard memory and adjusts CPI, polling and lift-off distance. Mac and Linux support is not confirmed beyond basic pointer use. No independent anti-cheat ban attributed to this mouse was found.

Parts and running costs

No subscription or disposable batteries. Periodic costs are PTFE feet and grip tape. Third-party skates cost $9.99 plus $4.99 shipping from one eBay seller, $14.98 total before possible customs charges. The battery is not a supported consumer part, so an ageing pack may mean replacing the mouse. Genuine spare feet, dock and receiver prices are not published.

Is it worth it?

At $45–55 delivered it is a strong pick if 8,000 Hz wireless and the dock matter. At $55–65 it is reasonable at the official $59.99 price. From $65–80, compare against the Logitech G309 and Razer Viper V3 HyperSpeed, both recently at $59.99. Above $80, value is weak. The official store also warns of a 25% restocking fee on opened change-of-mind returns, roughly $15 on the $59.99 sale price.

Which model this is

This page covers the standard SG5, sold as Savage Impact SG5 in black and white. It is not the SG5 Pro (8,000 Hz wired, 100-million-click switches) or SG5 SE. The US store SKU is “SG5 - Black”. Hardware is 125 × 64 × 40 mm with a PixArt PAW3950 sensor and Huano switches. Configuration software is Windows-only.
