Storage and running cost
Live view and motion alerts are free. Person and vehicle detection and cloud clip history are paid features. A single camera can avoid the cloud fee with a Sync Module 2 and USB storage or a Sync Module XR and microSD, but that hardware is bought separately and the camera itself has no card slot. Basic operation does not need a Sync Module at all.
Motion sensitivity
The clearest early owner signal is over-sensitive motion detection. In one exact-model thread, two owners reported triggers from tiny movements even at the lowest sensitivity, a particular problem for pet monitoring, and the original poster said firmware 22.15 did not fix it. That is a recurring signal, not a measured rate. Connectivity, notification and local-storage reports also appear but remain isolated.
Setup and the app
Onboarding needs the Blink app v48 and at least iOS 16.4, Android 10 or Fire OS 8. Color night vision is not full-color in total darkness: without ambient light it falls back to 850 nm infrared. The Pan-Tilt Mount does not fit this camera, which Blink reserves for the first-generation Mini.
Is it worth it?
Buy it on sale. At a discount it is a lot of camera for the money, but a yearly subscription can cost about as much as the camera itself, so price either the local-storage route or a subscription into the deal. Above the launch list price, cameras with built-in local storage deserve a look.
