Summary
A compact 120 V ceramic fan heater with 750 W and 1500 W heat settings, a fan-only mode and a manual thermostat. Check the cord guidance before buying: it is meant to plug straight into a wall outlet, not an extension cord.
Strengths
- Warms a small space quickly for its size.
- Fan-only mode moves air outside winter.
- A manual thermostat and two heat settings cover basic needs.
- Tip-over shutoff and overheat protection at a budget price.
- Compact and light, with a built-in carry handle.
- A low entry price makes it an easy supplemental heater.
Weaknesses
- No oscillation, timer, remote or app.
- The manual thermostat is hard for some owners to fine-tune.
- Some owners report cool air from one side on low settings.
- Owners report early failures and a very hot plug or cord.
- At 1500 W it uses the same power as any full-size space heater.
- The manual forbids extension cords and power strips.

Heat and running cost
Most 1500 W resistance heaters share the same electrical ceiling, so this model does not heat a room more cheaply than its rivals. At full power one hour draws about 1.5 kWh, and at 750 W about 0.75 kWh before the thermostat cycles. It suits spot heating at a desk, in an office or in a small bathroom.
Room size and cord
Retailer listings claim different coverage, from 100 sq ft to 150 sq ft and 215 sq ft, and BLACK+DECKER does not publish a coverage figure, so do not buy on that number. The manual says to plug the heater directly into a wall receptacle, never an extension cord or power strip, and to inspect an outlet if the plug fits loosely.
Safety and review duplicates
Exact-model owner reviews describe several early failures and reports of very hot plugs and sparking. Some of these reviews are syndicated across retailers, and two sparking posts look like the same incident, so the reports cannot be counted as separate failures or turned into a failure rate. Treat the pattern as a caution, not a measured defect.
Is it worth it?
At the low end it is a strong budget buy: full 1500 W output, a thermostat and basic safety from a recognized brand. Higher up it is merely fair, and once the price moves into the mid or high range, newer heaters with oscillation, a timer or a digital thermostat are the better value. Check the store panel for current prices.
Which model this is
This page covers the BLACK+DECKER BHDC201 personal ceramic heater, ASIN B07K1HHS7V, UPC 819813016197. Ignore seller copy that describes digital controls, a remote or 360-degree surround heat; those features belong to other designs and conflict with BLACK+DECKER’s own data.
