Summary

A 1.4 lb USB-charged handheld vacuum for quick cleanups in cars, offices and tight spaces, running up to 12 minutes on a 7.4 V battery. Check the runtime before you buy: 12 minutes is a maximum, and the 0.1 L bin fills fast.

Strengths

  • Very light at 1.37–1.4 lb, so it is easy to carry and maneuver.
  • Compact enough to live in a glove box or a small drawer.
  • USB charging works from a wall outlet, car or laptop.
  • The 2-stage filter is washable, so there are no replacement filters to buy.
  • The 2-in-1 tool stows on the charging stand.
  • Adequate suction for crumbs and dust on bare floors and low-pile surfaces.

Weaknesses

  • Runtime tops out at 12 minutes and is shorter under load.
  • The 0.1 L bin fills quickly and needs frequent emptying.
  • Low suction next to other handhelds, so it is not for deep carpet or large debris.
  • No HEPA filter.
  • The battery is not user-replaceable; Bissell directs owners to contact support.
  • One owner reports it is too weak to pick up much and that the bin clogs.

Runtime and suction

RTINGS rated the AeroSlim 8.6/10 and measured 6.07 kPa of suction, enough for light debris on hard floors and low-pile carpet but not for deep cleaning. It picks up pet hair on almost all surfaces. Gadget Review measured 70.4 dB and flagged the short battery life and the lack of a HEPA filter. The 12-minute runtime is the manufacturer’s maximum; RTINGS found it shorter in testing.

Filters, upkeep and running costs

There are no bags and no replacement filters, because the 2-stage filter is washable. Bissell says to wash it and let it dry fully before refitting, or the vacuum can smell. Bissell’s support pages list the common problems: no suction from an obstruction in the air path, power trouble from a damaged USB cord, unusual noise from a clog, and odor from damp filters or moist debris. The battery is not a user part, so charging-port or battery faults mean contacting Bissell.

Which model this is

This page covers the AeroSlim model 29869 in titanium, sold on Amazon under ASIN B087HQRW2M. Bissell also markets the same line as TurboSlim, and the two names refer to one product. Don’t merge it with the Pet Hair Eraser series or with the other AeroSlim variants, and note that the 2986D is a separate color variant sold in Canada.

Is it worth it?

Bissell lists the 29869 at $44.99, Walmart at $44.99 and Consumer Reports tracks it from $42.75; Gadget Review saw it at $41.19, and Wayfair around $45. Bissell Canada asks $69.99 for the same vacuum. Under $45 it is a strong budget pick for quick cleanups; $46–60 is fair value; above $60 it is hard to justify. Its value is portability, not cleaning power: it supplements a full-size vacuum rather than replacing one.
