Summary

A compact metal mini PC with an 8-core Ryzen 7 8745HS, Radeon 780M graphics, 32GB of DDR5 and a 1TB SSD. It is the NPU-less twin of the 8845HS, so weigh the weak Wi-Fi and the Windows idle-power quirks before you buy.

Strengths

  • The 8-core Zen 4 CPU and Radeon 780M handle office work, 4K video and light 1080p gaming.
  • Quiet, cool operation: reviewers measured low temperatures and a fan that stays near-silent under load.
  • The metal chassis looks and feels premium, and the footprint is small.
  • Two SO-DIMM and two M.2 slots make it genuinely upgradeable.
  • USB4, 2.5GbE and a full set of display outputs are rare at this size.
  • Linux works well out of the box, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4K60 verified by testers.

Weaknesses

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are the platform’s weak point: the metal case and internal antennas limit range and stability.
  • One owner traced high Windows idle power (18-21W on Windows 11) to the AMD GPIO driver, and a February 2025 BIOS did not fix it.
  • Early units had chipset-driver freezes and random reboots until a June 2026 BIOS update.
  • Getting inside needs rubber plugs and two screw sizes, and there is no VESA mount.
  • The 8745HS is not an “AI PC”: it has no NPU, despite the shared SER8 marketing.
  • Warranty terms conflict, with Beelink now stating three years while reviews from 2024-2025 cite one year.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the antenna kit

The most common complaint is wireless. Beelink fits an older Intel AX200 card inside an aluminum shell, and reviewers measured roughly 300-400 Mbps in one test while another saw about 784-812 Mbps on the 8845HS sibling. An exact-8745HS owner reported Bluetooth gamepad and headphone dropouts at 60cm and weak Wi-Fi even beside the router; BIOS updates and driver reinstalls did not help, and the owner added a USB Bluetooth adapter. Beelink acknowledged the issue and ships updated internal antenna kits in units produced from August 1, with a free replacement kit for affected owners. If you depend on Wi-Fi rather than Ethernet, plan for a possible fix or use the 2.5GbE port.

Performance, power and stability

Idle power is inconsistent. A detailed owner investigation measured about 18-21W at idle on Windows 11 24H2 and 28-40W on Windows 10 LTSC, against 7-9W on Ubuntu, and tied it to the AMD GPIO driver (amdgpio2.sys). Ars’s reviewer saw a lower 7-8W Windows idle after a long settle, so severity depends on the driver and BIOS state. Beelink also acknowledged a chipset-driver conflict that caused freezes, stutter and random reboots, fixed by a June 2026 BIOS update, and a Reddit owner described a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION freeze traced to an AMD chipset driver. Update the BIOS and chipset drivers on any unit you buy.

Where it is measured, the exact 8745HS is impressive: Ars OpenForum logged about 7-8W at the wall at idle and up to roughly 86W under combined CPU and GPU load, with peak core temperatures around 72°C and a fan at 1300-1800 rpm. Geekbench 6 community results for the exact model cluster around 2531-2605 single-core and 11606-13271 multi-core. Notebookcheck, ServeTheHome and TechRadar tested the 8845HS sibling, which shares the chassis, cooling and GPU, and praised its CPU performance and near-silent operation; those benchmarks should not be read as exact-8745HS numbers.

Upgrades, repairs and running costs

The SER8 is easy to upgrade in principle: two SO-DIMM slots, two M.2 2280 slots and a removable Wi-Fi card. Reaching them means prying out rubber plugs and undoing six to eight screws in two sizes, and the dust filter sits behind screws too. There is no recurring subscription and Windows 11 Pro is included, so the main extra costs are memory and a second SSD; Beelink recommends Crucial modules for upgrades. Ars’s reviewer paid $499 before tax (about $549.90 after tax) for the exact 8745HS in December 2024, and Beelink listed the 32GB/1TB configuration around $619 at the time of this check.

Is it worth it?

Value depends on the price you find. At or under roughly $500, the 8745HS is a strong buy for a quiet 8-core mini PC with USB4, dual M.2 and 2.5GbE. Between $500 and $600 it is fair, and above $600 the quiet metal chassis and port selection are what you are paying for, since same-platform rivals often match the CPU and GPU for less. TechRadar’s June 2024 launch pricing put the 8845HS at $649.99 in the US, and a September 2026 TechRadar deals article advertised the SER8 at $769 with Windows 11 Pro and a three-year warranty. Buyers who do not need an NPU get near-identical performance for less with the 8745HS.

Which model this is

This page covers the Beelink SER8 with the AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS, 32GB of DDR5-5600 and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, sold in Frost Silver and Space Gray. Beelink also sells an 8845HS version that shares the chassis and most specs but adds the Ryzen AI NPU and a slightly higher iGPU clock, so do not confuse the two. Retailer model strings vary; Best Buy lists “SER8/8745HS/32G/1TB/Space Gray” under SKU 12719986.
