Summary

A compact mini PC built around AMD’s Zen 3 mobile platform, with six-core CPU performance, triple-display output and easy internal upgrades. Check the exact CPU before you buy: the SER5 line spans 5500U through 5825U chips that share this chassis but differ in performance.

Strengths

  • Six-core Zen 3 CPU, 16GB of dual-channel RAM and a 500GB NVMe SSD in a 0.97 lb metal chassis.
  • Three 4K@60Hz display outputs over HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C.
  • 2.5G Ethernet, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth on board.
  • Four bottom screws give access to both RAM slots, the SSD, the SATA bay and the WiFi card.
  • Owners report quiet operation at idle and broad Linux compatibility across Debian, Mint, Ubuntu and Fedora.
  • Wake-on-LAN, RTC Wake and Auto Power On work for headless server duty.

Weaknesses

  • No USB4 or Thunderbolt, and the USB-C port cannot power the unit.
  • The 5625U is a 15W chip, so sustained multi-core work trails the 45W H-series SER5 variants.
  • Fan noise under load draws owner complaints; some adjust the fan curve in BIOS.
  • WiFi card quality is a recurring owner complaint, and the card varies by production batch.
  • Some units ship single-rank RAM, which can limit memory bandwidth and GPU performance.
  • No outlet has instrumented the exact 5625U SKU; benchmark numbers come from sibling variants.

Performance and platform

The 5625U is a 6-core, 12-thread Zen 3 chip at 2.3 GHz base and up to 4.3 GHz boost, with 7 Radeon GPU cores at 1800 MHz. It is a 15W TDP part, configurable up to 25W, not the 45W 5600H or 5800H, so sustained multi-core work trails the H-series SER5 models in the same chassis. The platform is PCIe 3.0 and DDR4, not PCIe 4.0 or DDR5, and there is no USB4 or Thunderbolt; the USB-C port carries data and DisplayPort Alt Mode but not Power Delivery.

No major outlet has instrumented the exact 5625U SKU. The closest data comes from sibling variants: Notebookcheck’s 5560U review measured 7,667 in Cinebench R23 multi-core and 1,260 single-core, comparable to Intel’s Core i5-1235U in multi-core work. minipc-review.com’s 5500U review recorded the same Cinebench numbers, 5,955 multi and 1,318 single in Geekbench 5.5, and about 2,600 MB/s sequential reads from its 500GB SSD. CNX Software’s 5600H review confirmed the chassis’ cooling and Linux compatibility. Treat these as platform-level figures, not exact-5625U measurements.

Thermals and noise

minipc-review.com measured 75-82°C under sustained load on the 5500U variant, with the fan rarely exceeding 35 dBA; the 5625U’s lower default TDP should run similar or cooler. Power draw rarely exceeds 35W in office use and up to 45W under sustained load. Reddit owners report the fan becomes noticeable under load, and some SER5 Pro 5800H owners adjusted the fan curve in BIOS to quiet it. Keep the mesh top and vents clean, and expect audible fan noise during sustained multi-core work.

Upgrades, Linux and headless use

Four bottom screws give access to both SODIMM slots (up to 64GB), the M.2 slot and a 2.5-inch SATA bay, all standard parts with no specialized tools. The WiFi card is replaceable too, which matters because owners report inconsistent WiFi card quality and the card varies by batch: Intel AX200 in Notebookcheck’s 5560U unit, MediaTek MT7921K in CNX’s 5600H unit, MT7920 per Newegg’s 5625U listing. Warranty is one year limited in the US, and some owners report concerns about after-sales support in certain markets. Beelink has been making mini PCs since 2011.

Owners report Linux working well: Debian 12, Manjaro, Linux Mint, EndeavourOS, Fedora Server and Ubuntu all come up in owner reports, and CNX ran Ubuntu 22.04 on the 5600H variant. Wake-on-LAN, RTC Wake and Auto Power On work as advertised, which suits Plex, Jellyfin or NAS duty; owners also use these for audio production with low DPC latency.

Is it worth it?

Notebookcheck reported the 5560U at $230 retail in 2023, and minipc-review.com describes 16GB/500GB configurations at €350-€450 in European markets; no exact US price for the 5625U SKU was confirmed. There are no subscription fees, and Windows 11 Pro is included. Under $200 it is strong value for productivity, media and light server duties, and its six-core Zen 3 CPU outperforms Intel’s N100 and N200 in multi-threaded work. At $200-250 it faces newer platforms such as AMD’s Ryzen 7040/8040 series and Intel’s N150/N200 with better integrated graphics or lower power draw. Above $250, the DDR4 and PCIe 3.0 platform starts to show its age. The 7-core Vega GPU handles 4K video and PS2/GameCube-era emulation, not modern 3D gaming.

Which model this is

This page covers the Beelink SER5 Pro configured with the Ryzen 5 5625U, 16GB DDR4-3200 and 500GB NVMe SSD; the Amazon listing is ASIN B0GVMVRVJH. The SER5 line spans 5500U, 5560U, 5600H, 5625U, 5700U, 5800H and 5825U variants that share the chassis but differ in CPU, GPU cores and TDP, so match on 5625U before buying. Bluetooth is listed as 5.2 or 5.4 depending on revision, and the WiFi card varies by production batch.
