Summary

A compact 8-port USB-C hub with two HDMI outputs, DisplayPort, VGA, USB-A and USB-C data ports, and 100W pass-through charging for a laptop. Check your setup before you buy: Mac users cannot spread content across multiple displays, and extending three monitors needs a host laptop with DP1.4.

Strengths

  • Eight ports in a small body that weighs 6.38 ounces.
  • Two HDMI outputs plus DisplayPort and VGA, so legacy projectors still connect.
  • 100W PD input charges the laptop through the same cable.
  • Free USB-A and USB-C data ports at 5Gbps.
  • No subscriptions, no proprietary accessories and no recurring cost.
  • An 18-to-24-month voluntary warranty with returns, replacement or repair.

Weaknesses

  • Mac users cannot extend content across more than one display.
  • Extending three monitors needs a DP1.4 host; on DP1.2 the laptop screen goes black.
  • The headline “4 screens and 4K@120Hz” claim does not describe simultaneous multi-monitor output.
  • 100W is the maximum input the hub accepts, not a measured figure for what a laptop receives.
  • No independent instrumented test of this exact model was found, and no owner feedback could be read.
  • No Ethernet port, no card readers and no published parts list or repair procedure.

Ports and display output

The port mix is unusual for the size: 2x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort, 1x VGA, 2x USB-A 3.0, 1x USB-C with data and 20W PD out, and a 100W PD input. Baseus publishes a ceiling for each display output, and those numbers matter more than the port count. HDMI1 tops out at 4K@60Hz, HDMI2 at 4K@30Hz, DisplayPort at 8K@30Hz and VGA at 1080p@60Hz. The feature copy on the product page talks about up to 4 screens and 4K@120Hz, but that describes what one output can do, not a four-screen configuration running at the same time. Baseus does not publish refresh-rate tables for port combinations, HDCP support or cable compatibility lists, so treat the per-output limits as the ceiling.

Data runs at 5Gbps on the USB-A and USB-C ports. The base speeds are common to this class, and Baseus publishes no per-port current limits and no port priority scheme.

Charging and power

The 100W PD input is the number laptop buyers will care about. It is the maximum the hub accepts from your charger, not a measurement of what reaches your laptop. No measured pass-through wattage was found for this model, and nobody has confirmed whether the 20W USB-C output and the 100W PD input can run at the same time. The hub itself needs no separate power; it draws from the attached host’s charger through the PD input.

Mac and multi-monitor limits

Two manufacturer-stated limits decide whether this hub fits your desk. On Macs, extending content across multiple displays is not supported because of Apple’s chip architecture, though a single external display works fine. Extending three monitors requires a host laptop supporting DP1.4, and Baseus warns that under DP1.2 the host screen goes black when you extend three monitors. Both notes sit in the product page’s note blocks rather than the spec table, so they are easy to miss.

If your workflow is two external screens on a Mac, or three screens on a Windows laptop without DP1.4, the port list does not help you.

Warranty, returns and repairs

Baseus states a voluntary warranty of 18 to 24 months for orders placed on or after January 1, 2024; earlier orders follow the warranty card in the package. The exact length that applies to this model is not specified. You need valid proof of purchase such as an order number or sales invoice, and issues that are not quality-related are not covered after 30 days. Third-party repairs, damage from misuse and purchases from unauthorized resellers are excluded. Support runs through care@baseus.com and +1 800 220 8056, Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.

The product page publishes a 7-day no-reason return for new-condition items and a 30-day after-sales guarantee for manufacturing defects. Return shipping on non-quality claims is on you, refunds are processed within 3 business days of warehouse receipt, and the money appears on your original payment method 7–15 business days later. US shipping is free over $20 and $6.90 under $20.

Repairability is poor. Baseus publishes no parts list, service manual or repair procedure for this hub, its manual download library has no PioneerJoy entry, and no firmware or driver download for the hub was found.

Is it worth it?

The hub’s case rests on the port mix and the charging headroom, since no independent instrumented test and no verified owner history exist for this exact model. Baseus’s own US store listed it at $69.99 in November 2026 with the product marked sold out, so treat that as a reference point rather than a price you can count on.

At $40–55 the eight-port count, dual HDMI plus DisplayPort plus VGA, 100W PD input and 6.38-ounce body are strong value. At $56–75 the value holds, which is where the observed first-party figure sits. Above $76 the case weakens: Macworld’s 2026 tested roundup names a 9-in-1 Plugable hub at $49.95 with 125W PD and 10Gbps data and an Anker 555 8-in-1 with 85W PD and 10Gbps data, both with published test findings and neither costing more. Above $100, buying untested is hard to justify when options with Ethernet, card readers, 10Gbps data or USB4 bandwidth sit at similar or lower prices.

The differentiator is not port count. It is the combination of dual HDMI with 4K@60Hz on HDMI1, DisplayPort at 8K@30Hz, VGA for legacy projectors, 5Gbps USB data and 100W PD input in a 4.13 × 2.76 × 0.63-inch body.

Which model this is

This page covers the Baseus PioneerJoy 8 in 1 USB-C Hub, SKU WKYY030413, sold in the US as a compact aluminum-style body with a screen-off button. Baseus markets the PioneerJoy line under the same name with up to 4 screens and 4K@120Hz on a single output. Do not confuse it with the Baseus Metal Gleam or Spacemate-series hubs, which are separate products with different port layouts.
