Baseus Blade 100W Laptop Power Bank 20000mAh: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-16
Summary
Owners most often report that the 100W rating does not hold: thermal protection cuts output after about nine minutes of full-power draw and a sustained laptop charge settles near 65W. There are no replaceable parts; the only extra purchase is a 65W USB-C PD wall charger, which is not included. At roughly $50–$60 it is strong value for a slim 74Wh laptop bank; above about $100 it is weak.
Common problems and fixes
- 100W does not hold under sustained load — the main USB-C port peaks at 99.9W (20V/5A), but thermal protection cuts output after about nine minutes of continuous full-power draw and the surface reaches 58–59 °C; ZDNET measured about 60W for a Surface Book 3 and 60–75W for a Surface Laptop Studio, never 100W. Fix: plan on roughly 65W for a long laptop charge. [1][2]
- Unpredictable power sharing between the two USB-C ports — with a laptop and a phone connected at once, the split is not always predictable and a phone can drop to about 10W. Fix: charge one demanding device at a time. [3]
- The display reports only one device — the LCD shows the live draw of a single device, never sums the ports, blinks while the bank is charging and cannot be switched off. Fix: treat it as a rough level gauge, not a per-port meter. [1][2]
- The glossy display scratches easily — it marks against other items in a bag even with the included pouch. Fix: keep it in a dedicated compartment or add a screen protector. [1]
- No wall charger is included — wired and self-charging both need a user-supplied USB-C PD charger; the advertised 1.5 h self-charge needs 65–67W. Fix: buy a 65W PD charger separately. [1][4]
- Delivered energy is below the label — real output is 63Wh at 65W (~85%) and 66Wh at 15W (~89%) of the 74Wh nominal. Fix: size a laptop charge on about 63Wh delivered. [1]
Parts and consumables
No replaceable parts or consumables reported.
Yearly running cost
Not enough data for a per-year figure. There are no filters, pods or subscriptions; the only added cost is a 65W USB-C PD wall charger, which is not included, and a 74Wh recharge draws only a small amount of electricity.
When it is a good buy
- Under $60: strong value for a slim 74Wh laptop bank with a display and four ports. IGN listed $49.79 in October 2024, PCWorld saw $49 in June 2026 and $54 in September 2026. [7][8][9]
- $60–$80: good value. Baseus’s US store lists a $69.99 sale price, and Android Central saw $79 in September 2023. [10][11]
- $80–$100: fair; weigh newer siblings before buying. [1]
- Above $100: weak. The official regular price of $129.99 and a Newegg listing at $162.99 are for a model Baseus has itself superseded in parts of its lineup. [10][4]
- Alternatives: the newer Baseus Blade HD 100W if you want a slimmer sibling; the UGREEN Nexode 100W or Anker Prime 20000 if you can accept a thicker body (the Blade is 0.7 in, the Nexode 1 in and the Anker Prime 1.9 in). [1][12]
