Baseus Blade 100W Laptop Power Bank: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-17
Summary
The Baseus Blade 100W is a 0.7-inch-thick, about 506g 74Wh laptop power bank whose headline 100W output is real but short-lived: instrumented testing measured 99.9W briefly, then thermal protection cut output after about nine minutes. There are no consumables; the only running cost is a 65W-or-higher USB-C PD charger if you do not already own one. It is a good buy around $50-70 and weak above $130.
Common problems and fixes
- 100W is a burst, not a cruise — thermal protection cut output after about nine minutes of continuous full-power draw in instrumented testing, and a 2022 hands-on test never saw 100W at all, peaking at 92W with a Surface Laptop Studio. Sustained charging settles near 65W; treat 100W as a peak for short top-ups. [1][2]
- Display limitations — the screen shows only one connected device at a time, offers no combined-wattage readout, cannot be turned off while anything is plugged in, blinks during self-charge and below 10%, and its glossy face scratches easily. [2][4][1]
- No wall charger in the box — the package holds a 100W USB-C cable and a storage pouch but no charger; without an existing 65W-or-higher PD supply, recharge stretches well past the claimed 1.5 hours. [4][1]
- Isolated long-term wear reports — reduced capacity or premature port wear after months of very heavy use; not a widespread or established pattern, and no recall is tied to the model. [1]
Parts and consumables
No replaceable parts or consumables reported. The unit is sealed, so do not expect user-serviceable internals. [1]
Yearly running cost
No consumables and no subscriptions. The only running cost is a 65W-or-higher USB-C PD charger if you do not own one; with a 65-67W supply the bank itself recharges in about 1h23-1h30. [4][1]
When it is a good buy
- Around $50-70 — strong value for a laptop-carrying traveler: genuine 100W peak, 63-66Wh delivered, thin slab format, informative display, 24-month warranty in US and EU channels. [1][6]
- $71-100 — still good; the $99.99 launch price in March 2022 was considered fair at the time. [7][3]
- $101-130 — fair; How-To Geek still called $130 worthwhile in September 2023, but it is the ceiling of the value zone. [4]
- Above $130 — weak unless the slim form factor specifically matters; compare the newer Blade HD and Blade H1 and rivals like the UGREEN Nexode 100W, which is thicker and was $79.99 at the time of Best-Batteries’ September 2026 review. [1][8]
The US Baseus store lists the Blade at $69.99 against a $129.99 regular price, sold out when checked in October 2026. [6]
