Summary
Bambu Lab PA6-CF is a carbon-fiber-reinforced Nylon 6 filament for dry-environment functional parts that need stiffness, strength and heat resistance. Check your setup before buying: it needs drying, an enclosure, a hardened steel nozzle, and it is not compatible with AMS or 0.2 mm nozzles.
Strengths
- Dry-state stiffness and strength are documented in the technical data sheet.
- Creator testing found PA6-CF stronger than Bambu PA6-GF in several measures.
- High heat deflection temperature suits hot-environment functional parts.
- Reusable spool with downloadable TDS and MSDS documentation.
Weaknesses
- Moisture absorption of 2.35% makes drying and sealed storage mandatory.
- Not compatible with AMS or 0.2 mm nozzles.
- Carbon fiber wears nozzles; hardened steel is required.
- Bed adhesion often needs glue; large parts warp.
- No independent instrumented test of this exact filament exists.

Printing requirements and compatibility
PA6-CF is not a drop-in filament. It must be dried before use, stored sealed with desiccant, and printed in an enclosure to reduce warping. AMS is not compatible, 0.2 mm nozzles are not compatible, and stainless steel nozzles are not recommended; a hardened steel nozzle is required because carbon fiber wears brass. Support structures should be removed within 2 hours to avoid moisture softening, and surface coatings can reduce water absorption.
The manufacturer and the technical data sheet disagree on several settings: nozzle temperature 260–290 °C in the TDS versus 260–300 °C in the guide; bed temperature 80–100 °C in the TDS versus 100–120 °C in the guide; cooling fan 0–60% in the TDS versus 0–40% in the guide; drying 80 °C for 8–12 h or 90–100 °C for 12 h in the manufacturer pages versus 70–90 °C for about 12–16 h on SpoolBites.
Mechanical performance
Manufacturer data lists tensile strength 102 ± 7 MPa (XY) and 48 ± 6 MPa (Z), bending strength 151 ± 8 MPa (XY) and 80 ± 7 MPa (Z), bending modulus 5460 ± 280 MPa (XY) and 2240 ± 220 MPa (Z), and impact strength 40.3 ± 2.5 kJ/m² (XY, unnotched). Heat deflection temperature is 186 °C at 0.45 MPa and 164 °C at 1.8 MPa. The manufacturer states these values are typical values for standard samples and are for design reference and comparison only.
MyTechFun tested Bambu PA6-CF against Bambu PA6-GF on a Bambu Lab X1C using default slicer settings. PA6-CF showed higher tensile break load (average 128.45 kg versus 106.95 kg), layer adhesion (average 38.45 kg versus 15.65 kg), vertical shear (110.8 kg versus 72.5 kg), and lower creep deformation (0.13 mm versus 0.30 mm after 60 s at 1.25 kg). PA6-GF was more dimensionally stable, with shrinkage of an 80 mm bar to 79.90 mm versus 80.35 mm for PA6-CF. Both filaments reached 200 °C before partial melting. This is a single-creator test, not a standards laboratory result, and it depends on print settings and specimen geometry.
Moisture, warping and bed adhesion
PA6-CF absorbs moisture quickly, and wet filament produces rough surfaces. Owner reports describe warping on larger parts, especially in passively heated chambers, and bed-adhesion problems on textured PEI that often require glue or adhesive. The manufacturer warns that prints can become tougher in humid environments and that PA6-CF is not recommended for thin or elongated parts requiring strength, stiffness and dimensional stability. Whether bed-adhesion problems come from plate type, moisture, glue amount or settings is not settled in the available reports.
Bambu store lists PA6-CF starting at $42.99, with 0.5 kg and 1 kg spool options (Bambu store, 2026). Free shipping applies to orders over $59, and over $199 to remote areas; returns are accepted within 30 days (Bambu store, 2026). The real ownership cost is in tooling: a hardened steel nozzle, drying equipment or oven time, glue or nano-polymer adhesive for bed adhesion, support material, and electricity.
At $42.99 per kilogram, value is highest for buyers who already own an enclosure, hardened nozzle and drying capability and need dry-environment mechanical performance; without that hardware, total cost and difficulty rise. No competitor price comparison was found in the read pages, so precise value thresholds cannot be quantified beyond the manufacturer’s own pricing.
Is it worth it?
For a buyer who already has an enclosure, hardened steel nozzle and drying capability and needs stiff, strong, heat-resistant parts in a dry environment, PA6-CF is a documented option with an unusually complete data sheet. For a buyer without that setup, or one who needs dimensional stability or AMS feeding, the added tooling and process discipline make other filaments worth considering first.
Which model this is
