Summary
A USB 3.0-only 4K webcam for desktop calls and streaming on a PC with a free USB 3.0 port and good lighting. Check your port and your lighting before buying: AVerMedia states the camera does not support USB 2.0, and its quick guide recommends a 500+ LM main light.
Strengths
- 4K at 30 fps and 1080p at 60 fps from an 8 MP Sony sensor.
- 94° field of view with fixed focus and a 10 cm minimum distance.
- Stereo microphones, swivel-arm privacy shutter, 360° swivel, flexible base and 1/4-inch tripod thread.
- UVC support plus CamEngine ePTZ, AI tracking and up to 15 saved custom shots.
- Firmware and CamEngine downloads are provided by AVerMedia.
Weaknesses
- USB 3.0 only; AVerMedia documents no USB 2.0 support.
- Fixed focus with a 50–200 cm working range, not autofocus.
- 4K is limited to 30 fps; 60 fps is available only at 1080p.
- macOS may show video delay that needs a 200–1000 ms audio delay.
- Manufacturer recommends a 500+ LM main light; low light can cause noise and grain.
- CamEngine features need more CPU, GPU and RAM than the webcam’s base requirements.

Full research notes and sources
USB 3.0 and lighting requirements
The quick guide recommends a 500+ LM main light and warns that low frame rate or poor color can result from insufficient light, too many active USB devices, unmet system requirements, high CPU or GPU usage, USB hubs or extension cables, or outdated firmware; firmware 0.0.8000.46 is said to fine-tune default image settings.
Fixed focus and framing
The lens is F/2.8 fixed focus with a 94° diagonal field of view and a working distance of 50–200 cm, with a 10 cm minimum distance. You need to sit within that range for a sharp image. The 4K mode is 30 fps; 60 fps is available only at 1080p.
CamEngine and macOS
CamEngine adds manual zoom from 1x to 4x, snapshot, ePTZ with AI body or speech tracking and up to 15 saved custom shots, but its own system requirements are higher than the webcam’s base requirements, including 8 GB RAM or more in the quick guide’s tables. On macOS the camera may show video delay, and the guide suggests delaying audio by 200–1000 ms.
