AULA S75 Pro: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-17
Summary
A 75% tri-mode mechanical keyboard with a TFT screen, knob, gasket mount and hot-swappable linear switches, whose weak point is software: the Windows-only driver is unstable for multiple owners and Mac users get nothing. There are no consumables, so the only running cost is the board itself. Between about $60 and $75 it is a good buy for the screen-and-knob feature set; above $90 the software complaints make established alternatives worth a look.
Common problems and fixes
- Unstable Windows-only driver — multiple Reddit users report software instability and an inability to upload GIFs to the screen; the driver only runs in wired mode, so there is no fix and Mac users cannot customize lighting, macros or screen content at all. [14][15][16][17]
- Unintuitive GIF upload process — getting custom content onto the screen requires renaming files to “0” and placing them in a specific folder; owners call the process unintuitive and there is no documented workaround. [14][15]
- Stock keycap feel — one owner reports the stock keycaps “don’t feel so good on my fingertips” and considered replacing them; the included puller makes a keycap swap the practical fix. [15]
- Battery life falls short of the claim in 2.4GHz mode — one owner reports about 3-4 days of use with 2.4GHz and RGB on, shorter than the 30-hour manufacturer claim; the fix is running wired or turning RGB off. [14]
- Low Bluetooth polling rate — Bluetooth mode polls at 125 Hz versus 1000 Hz in wired and 2.4GHz modes, which may be noticeable for gaming; switching to wired or 2.4GHz is the workaround. [6][7]
- Unexplained key-count discrepancy — AULA’s own product page says 84 keys while the details page, manual and retailer pages say 80 keys; there is no fix, just confirm the layout you receive before trusting a listing. [1][2][6]
Parts and consumables
- 4000 mAh battery — charged over USB-C at 5V/1.5A in about 4 hours; no replacement procedure or owner replacement reports found. [6][7]
No consumables reported beyond the items above.
Yearly running cost
None beyond the purchase: no consumables, no subscriptions and no scheduled wear part, so a typical owner spends $0 per year on top of the board. [1]
When it is a good buy
- $60 or below: strong value — tri-mode connectivity, gasket mount, hot-swap, TFT screen, knob and PBT caps at a budget price; the software complaints are an acceptable tradeoff at this level. [1]
- $61–$75 (AULA official US store $73.90; Mechkeys $75 per keeb-finder): still good value, especially for the screen-and-knob feature set and 5-device Bluetooth pairing. [1][19]
- $76–$90 (aulakeyboard.com up to $75.90; WhatGeek $79 per keeb-finder): fair — it competes with more established brands and boards with better software ecosystems; the screen and knob are the main differentiators. [5][19]
- Above $90 (lauragaming.shop listed up to $69.90 only at the recorded snapshot): weak unless the exact feature combination is a priority; boards with stronger software and better keycaps are available. [3]
Named alternative: the Epomaker G84 is the better choice when a more established software ecosystem matters more than the screen, and the AULA Nova75 is the comparable in-brand board to compare against before choosing. [19]
