Summary
A large, heavy right-handed wireless MMO mouse built around a 19,000 dpi sensor, 12 programmable buttons and hot-swappable switches. It suits bigger hands that want a dock-receiver and serviceable switches; check your hand size and weight tolerance before buying.
Strengths
- Very low click latency in wireless mode.
- 12 programmable buttons, six of them in the side cluster.
- Hot-swappable ROG Micro Switches with two spares and a screwdriver in the box.
- The magnetic dock doubles as the 2.4 GHz receiver and charger.
- Up to 67 hours of battery life with RGB off.
- Sturdy build: a plastic frame reinforced with a metal base plate.
Weaknesses
- At 168 g and 137 mm long it is aimed at larger hands, not small hands or fingertip grip.
- The six-button side layout can be awkward.

Full research notes and sources
Size, shape and grip
At 168 g and 137 mm long, the Spatha X is a large mouse, and both KitGuru and Windows Central describe the design as divisive. It is right-handed with a palm grip, thumb and pinky rests, and a shaped metal base plate under a matte plastic shell. RTINGS calls the shape comfortable for palm and claw grip, says it suits most hand sizes, and warns it is not suitable for small hands and not ideal for fingertip grip.
Buttons, switches and dock
Twelve programmable buttons include a six-button side cluster in the ROG-eye layout, four DPI levels and DPI On-The-Scroll. The standout ownership feature is the switches: ROG Micro Switches rated for 70 million clicks sit in push-fit sockets, two spares and a screwdriver ship in the box, and third-party switches can be fitted to tune click force. The magnetic dock charges the mouse and doubles as the only 2.4 GHz receiver, which is convenient at a desk but means the full-size stand-up unit has to travel too.
Battery and software
ASUS rates the battery at up to 67 hours wireless with RGB off, and 15 minutes of charging returns up to 12 hours; those figures were measured with Aura lighting and Battery Notification mode off, so real-world runtime is lower. Full configuration needs Armoury Crate, which one owner measured using about 550 MB of RAM while running. Another owner noted the absence of a Shift-key feature. The battery is a non-removable lithium-polymer pack.
Sensor behavior
The 19,000 dpi optical sensor tracks well in most testing: RTINGS found very low click latency and reported no tracking problems. That is one source’s signal, not a measured failure rate.
Is it worth it?
At around $100–$130 on sale it is a strong niche pick for MMO players with larger hands who value hot-swappable switches and a dock-receiver. At $150 it is fair: competent and well-built, but the weight and layout criticisms bite. At $169.99, where ASUS and Best Buy listed it in 2025, the value narrows to buyers who specifically want this button layout and dock. It launched at $149.99 in 2021. Windows Central’s reviewer personally disliked using it yet recommended it with caveats, and pointed to lighter alternatives such as the Razer Naga V2 Pro and Basilisk V3 Pro.
Which model this is
This page covers the 2021 ROG Spatha X, model P707 ROG Spatha X. Do not confuse it with the original 2016 ROG Spatha, which is heavier at 178 g and uses a laser sensor, or with the 2026 ROG Spatha X 65K, a distinct newer model with a 65,000 dpi sensor and a different weight system.
