ASUS ROG Gladius III Wireless AimPoint: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-20
Summary
The most reported trouble is firmware-related: a 2026-09 ROG forum thread describes the middle-click release being lost in all three connection modes after updating to device 3.00.10, and other owners report the mouse getting stuck in DPI scroll mode. Running costs are just charging plus eventual switch or feet replacement; no dollar figure is available. Near a US$138-150 price it is a credible ultralight alternative, but the exact model has no instrumented test.
Common problems and fixes
- Middle-click release stuck after firmware update — reported on the ROG forum (2026-09-06) after updating to device 3.00.10; the middle-click release is intermittently lost in all three connection modes, so Windows thinks the middle button is held. Pressing the physical Profile button temporarily clears it. [9]
- Stuck in DPI scroll mode — owners report the cursor moves but no buttons work, scrolling changes DPI and the DPI button does nothing, in both wired and 2.4 GHz modes; one user had the same fault on a warranty-replacement unit. [10]
- Battery draining in seconds — a ROG forum thread titled “Rog Gladius III battery drain in seconds” reports a full charge draining within about a minute and a programmed 2-minute sleep mode not working; the thread does not clearly identify the AimPoint sub-model. [5]
- Armoury Crate update process — firmware updates require connecting both the dongle and the mouse, and the software was seen as needing improvement. [6]
- Tracking degrades at very high DPI — Pokde’s tracking test looked clean to about 5,200 DPI and turned messy from 18,000 DPI upward; most people will not use it past 8,000 DPI. [6]
Parts and consumables
- Grip tapes (4 included) — in the box. [2]
- USB dongle and dongle extender — included in the box. [2]
Yearly running cost
Not enough data for a dollar figure. The 370 mAh battery is not a user part, so the ongoing cost is charging plus the eventual replacement of main switches and PTFE feet.
When it is a good buy
No current US price for the standard black/white model was confirmed. ASUS ROG Canada eStore lists the mouse at CAD $149.99 (2026), and ALKtech noted a suggested retail price of S$189, about US$138 at end-November 2022. At a US price near that range it competes with the Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro and the Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT, and Pokde called it good value; the swappable switches and included accessories are the draw.
