Summary
A 14-inch ultraportable gaming laptop with a 3K OLED 120Hz screen, RTX 5060 and a 3.31 lb aluminum chassis. Check the memory and your workloads before buying: the 16GB is soldered, the CPU is a refreshed 2024 part, and owners report unreliable USB-C charging.
Strengths
- The 3K OLED panel is sharp, vibrant and color-accurate, with a measured average dE of 1.08.
- The CNC-machined aluminum chassis is a premium, understated design that weighs just 3.31 lb.
- The four-speaker system delivers strong bass; one owner measured 252% more volume and 150% more bass than the 2024 model.
- Wi-Fi 7, USB4, HDMI 2.1 and a full-size card reader keep the port selection practical.
- Battery life can reach 7–8 hours of daily work with the Ghelper tool and an 80% charge limit.
Weaknesses
- USB-C PD charging is unreliable: owners report slow-charging warnings, failed charging on 140W GaN chargers, and shutdowns while docked.
- The 16GB of LPDDR5X is soldered, so memory cannot be upgraded; only the higher ASUS configuration doubles it to 32GB.
- The Ryzen 9 270 is a rebadged Ryzen 9 8945HS (Zen 4) that trails newer Intel and AMD chips in CPU benchmarks.
- With a 16 TOPS NPU it is not a Copilot+ PC, so Recall, Live Captions and Cocreator are unavailable.
- The RTX 5060 is capped at 90W, and two Lenovo systems deliver nearly 20 percent more from the same GPU.
- TechRadar measured about two and a half hours of movie playback, and the chassis gets hot on the rear and underside.

Display and build
The 2880 x 1800 OLED runs at 120Hz with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, Pantone validation, Dolby Vision and a MUX Switch. PCWorld measured 401 nits in SDR and 631 nits in HDR with an average dE of 1.08, and reviewers consistently call the panel the laptop’s standout feature. The CNC-machined aluminum body keeps the weight to 3.31 lb and the profile to about 0.63 in, and the keyboard and touchpad draw repeated praise.
Performance
The GA403UM is the entry-level GPU tier of the 2025 G14, pairing the RTX 5060 at 90W with 16GB of memory. PCWorld found gaming performance solid at 1080p and 1440p with DLSS, but Metro Exodus on Extreme settings stays under 40 fps and Cyberpunk 2077 with RT Overdrive is not playable. The CPU side is the weaker half: PCWorld notes the Lenovo Legion 5i 15IRX10 dominates it in Cinebench, and the 16 TOPS NPU misses the 45 TOPS mark that Copilot+ features require. In a 3DMark Steel Nomad stress test it held 98.7% consistency across 20 runs.
USB-C charging, battery and heat
ASUS lists USB-C Power Delivery up to 100W, but owners on the ROG forum report it does not hold PD speeds even with 140W GaN chargers, that the laptop can shut down while charging over USB-C, and that undocking can bring black screens and AMD driver timeout errors; a BIOS update to 307 did not fix it for at least one owner. Battery results split: TechRadar measured a little over two and a half hours of movie playback, while an owner with Ghelper and an 80% charge limit reports 7–8 hours of daily work. Heat and fan noise recur in testing: TechRadar describes blistering heat on the rear and underside, T3 calls the fans noticeable, and PCWorld says the palm rest stays comfortable.
Is it worth it?
The reviewed 16GB/1TB configuration was $1,799 at Best Buy, and a 2TB upgrade from HIDevolution was listed at $1,781 on Newegg. ASUS direct configurations step up to RTX 5070 and 32GB and were listed at $2,499.99, with TechRadar noting a base of $2,099.99; T3 lists a higher Best Buy configuration at $3,169.99. At around $1,799 the display, build and portability make it a strong ultraportable for 1080p and 1440p gaming, and below $1,700 it is an easier call. Above $2,099 the value weakens against rivals with more memory or better cooling.
Which model this is
This page covers the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2025) GA403UM, the RTX 5060 and Ryzen 9 270 configuration in the GA403 family. Sibling models use the same family name but different GPUs: GA403UH (RTX 5050), GA403WM (RTX 5070), GA403WP (RTX 5070 Ti) and GA403UP (RTX 5080). The GA403UM keeps the thinner chassis carried over from the 2024 model (about 15.9–16.3 mm), while the RTX 5070 and above use a thicker thermal-hood design up to 18.3 mm. Do not confuse it with the 2026 GA403 refresh with the Ryzen AI 9 465, or the Intel-based GU405.
The reviewed configuration is sold in Platinum White and Eclipse Grey; the listing for it is ASIN B0FM5R4YDJ.
