Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

Before you buy, check that the maker’s warranty page actually states a warranty — the one their site links to currently serves privacy-policy text.

Strengths

  • Covers the basics in one purchase: slotted spoons, turners, spatulas, ladle, pasta server, whisk, brush and tongs.
  • Soft silicone heads are gentler on nonstick coatings than bare steel.
  • Maker-advertised dishwasher safety avoids the hand-washing that bamboo-handled sets demand.
  • Stainless-steel cores should cut the floppiness cheap silicone usually has, though head stiffness is unmeasured.
  • The included holder tidies up countertop storage.

Weaknesses

  • Every number, from 446°F to BPA-free, is the maker’s claim; no third-party temperature, food-contact or durability test covers this set.
  • The site’s “Warranty” link serves privacy-policy text, and no warranty length, exclusions or claim process is stated anywhere.
  • The 14 count includes the holder and egg separator; the 12 real utensils give you two slotted spoons and two turners that may overlap.
  • Pieces are not sold separately, so one dead whisk or torn spatula means buying the set again.
  • No owner reports specific to this set could be found, so long-term durability is unknown rather than proven bad.
  • Owners of other silicone sets report discoloration, surface tack and smells that washing will not shift.

What you actually get

The maker’s page sells this set as “Utensils Set BLACK”. It is the black 14-piece configuration, not the wood-handled variants and not other companies’ lookalike sets. Of the 14 pieces, 12 are cooking implements and two are the holder and egg separator; if you only need a few core tools, a smaller box means less clutter.

The published size is nearly useless: “14 x 4.5 x 4.7” carries no units and no indication of whether it describes the tools, the holder or the packaging. Measure your drawer or counter space before you order. The maker lists a Shenzhen, China contact address; that says nothing about where each part was actually made.

Heat, dishwasher and nonstick

Treat it as a ceiling for occasional hot-pan work, not permission to rest a tool against a burner, an oven element or a dry skillet left on heat. A comparable Mainstays set claims 428°F; both figures are seller claims, not test results.

Dishwasher safety is likewise a maker assertion without measured cycle counts. The nonstick case is the strongest of the three claims: soft silicone scrapes with less abrasion risk than steel, and independent Serious Eats testing of other brands found silicone utensils genuinely effective on eggs, batters and scraping — but that testing did not include AOTHOD.

Checks when yours arrives

Count all 14 pieces against the maker’s list. Work the whisk wires and tongs with your fingers to check they are seated, flex each turner for sharp exposed metal at the edges, look for mold seams or tears, and sniff after the first wash for any lingering manufacturing odor. Test the holder for stability on your counter.

These checks target failure modes other owners have hit, not this set specifically. In r/BuyItForLife threads, a September 2024 owner described whisk wires pulling out of a hollow handle so water got inside; another owner’s cheap 14-piece set lost a whisk after two uses; August 2026 discussion describes silicone-and-steel utensils parting at the seam. Nobody has published failure data for this exact black set. Do not keep using a torn tool once its metal core shows.

The maker’s page displays $23.99 (AOTHOD, October 2026). It is a displayed offer, not a tested checkout: direct shipping cost and US delivery were not verified. Running costs are $0 a year — the set has no filters, blades or proprietary consumables; detergent and dishwasher use are your ordinary household costs, and no published failure interval makes replacement tools honestly computable.

Replacement parts are the weak point: the page sells only the complete set, with no separate spoons, whisk wires or holder. Support runs through a contact form, aothod_service@163.com and a Shenzhen address; the “Warranty” page serves privacy-policy text and the FAQ is empty. Treat a seller’s written return policy as more dependable than an unspecified brand warranty — one eBay listing offers its seller’s 30-day returns, which is not a maker warranty. Photograph anything missing or broken and keep the receipt.

Is it worth it?

At $20 or below this is an easy first-kitchen buy. At $21–$25 it stays reasonable if returns are easy and you want the matched set. Above $30 the money goes further elsewhere: Walmart’s Walchoice 14-piece set with holder lists at $18.99 with about the same tool range, and $13.99 direct from OXO buys a single task-focused tool. Serious Eats’ advice after testing seven spatulas was to pick task-tested individual tools rather than trust a matching set — their pick was the OXO Good Grips Silicone Everyday Spatula, a different tool from the turner.

eBay listings under the AOTHOD name add noise rather than value: one black set at $29.62 (July 2026) carries conflicting brand fields in its own specifics, and a $42.99 listing ended in June 2026. If a marketplace price sits far below the maker’s page, check who the seller is and what their return policy actually says before paying.
