Summary
Anycubic PLA+ is a 1.75 mm modified PLA sold on 1 kg spools for everyday FDM printing, with published impact and strain numbers above the brand’s standard PLA. Before buying, weigh the sale price against the color you want and the risk of occasional tangles or first-layer tuning on your printer.
Strengths
- Published impact and strain above the brand’s standard PLA: 28±1 kJ/m² Izod impact and 12±1% XY elongation at break versus 22±2 kJ/m² and 8±1%.
- Broad, easy print window: no enclosure, 190–230°C nozzle, 55–65°C bed, 0.2 mm or larger nozzle.
- Selected colors on sale: Texture Silver at $17.47 for 1 kg at Anycubic US on October 23, 2026; bulk tiers from $9.61/kg.
- ACE Pro identification and a reusable threaded spool shell on supported printers, without needing the tag on generic machines.
- Owners report easy day-to-day use, including a 220°C nozzle / 60°C bed profile on an Anycubic Kobra X.
- 1 kg rolls let you test one color before committing to a multi-roll order.
Weaknesses
- “PLA+” is a brand-specific blend, not a standard; settings do not transfer between brands.
- Tangles reported on some black rolls (one owner: 7 of 10), disputed by long-term users; no factory failure rate exists.
- First-layer adhesion and stringing can need profile tuning; generic PLA presets may not suffice.
- Not heat-resistant: heat deflection 50°C, glass transition about 54°C; parts creep in warm cars or near electronics.
- Refill coils need a matching reusable shell and careful winding; unattended roll changes may stop.
- No certified food-contact or finished-print emissions data for this grade.
Verified specifications
| Type | PLA+ (modified PLA), 1.75 mm, 1 kg net per spool. |
|---|---|
| Diameter tolerance | tighter than ±0.02 mm (manufacturer claim, not an independently sampled profile). |
| Nozzle | 190–230°C; bed 55–65°C; speed 50–200 mm/s; max volumetric flow 12 mm³/s; nozzle 0.2 mm or larger. |
| Drying | 45–50°C for 6–8 hours; store dry. |
| Thermal | density 1.21 g/cm³; melt temperature 162°C; glass transition 54.2°C; Vicat 52°C; heat deflection 50°C at 0.45 MPa. |
| Mechanics (printed specimens, TDS v3.0) | XY tensile 45±5 MPa; Z tensile 23.8±0.4 MPa; XY elongation at break 12±1%; XY flexural strength 82±8 MPa; XY notched Izod impact 28±1 kJ/m². |
| Composition (SDS, June 26, 2025) | over 70% PLA, under 20% adipic-acid/butanediol/dimethyl-terephthalate copolymer, under 10% hydroxybutyric-acid copolymer. |
| Compatibility | runs in standard 1.75 mm printers; ACE Pro tags identify the roll on supported Anycubic machines but are not required. |

Print settings and thermal limits
Anycubic’s TDS v3.0 assumes a 0.4 mm nozzle, 100% fan, 0.96 extrusion multiplier, 20 mm/s minimum speed and 30 mm/s retraction speed. Treat these as starting points: hotend, nozzle and layer height all change the result. The TDS warns not to use its mechanical values as design specifications or QA guarantees.
Tangles, adhesion and stringing
Owners split on tangles. One July 19, 2026 post says 7 of 10 black rolls tangled; others report 100–150 kg or over 100 rolls without the issue and blame a loose filament end crossing during handling. First-layer failures on an Anycubic Kobra X improved for some owners at 220°C nozzle and 60°C bed with plate cleaning; others never saw failures. None of this is a measured defect rate.
At Anycubic US on October 23, 2026, a selected 1 kg Texture Silver spool is $17.47 against a $23.99 reference, with bulk tiers from $9.61/kg. A spool-less refill is $17.99 (reference $20.99). Inland PLA+ White is $13.99–$14.99 at Micro Center depending on store; Polymaker PolyLite PLA Pro Black is $19.99 at B&H; ELEGOO PLA Plus Sky Blue is $19.99 at Walmart. Anycubic PLA Basic is $15.99. Material alone, $17.47/kg is about $0.01747/g, so 100 g is $1.75 and 500 g is $8.74. Six kg a year at $17.47/kg is $104.82; twelve kg is $209.64. Shipping to mainland US is free, with one business day processing plus 3–8 business days in transit.
Is it worth it?
Below $15/kg is attractive in bulk if color and quantity fit your needs. $15–$18/kg for a full spool is fair; above $20/kg is harder to justify for decorative prints unless you want that pigment or ACE integration. Compared with Inland PLA+ at $13.99–$14.99 and Polymaker PolyLite PLA Pro at $19.99, the deciding factors are color range, ACE tags and the published property data, not a universal toughness win.
Which model this is
This page covers Anycubic PLA+ in 1.75 mm on a 1 kg spool, the PLA+ grade on Anycubic’s US product page, not PLA Basic, PLA High Speed, the spool-less refill, PETG or mixed-color bundles. The listing offers colors including Black, White, Grey, Texture Silver, Blue and Red; the storefront does not establish one universal US UPC or an identical SKU for every color.
