Summary
The Photon Mono 4 Ultra is a compact resin printer for miniatures and small detailed parts, built around a 7-inch 10K monochrome LCD with a COB and Fresnel light source. Its catch is quality control: owners report dim LCDs and inconsistent print quality, so buy from a seller with a straightforward return policy.
Strengths
- 10K detail and sharpness are the most praised trait for miniature work.
- Fast print speeds suit rapid prototyping and quick test prints.
- Guided leveling and failure detection make it approachable for beginners.
- Wi-Fi, LAN and app notifications are valued over USB-only rivals.
- Generous 2.2 L build volume for its size class.
Weaknesses
- Quality control is the recurring complaint; one owner calls it top tier “if it wasn’t for QC issues”.
- A Reddit thread reports an LCD test pattern too dim to shine through, with a circular pattern.
- Inconsistent print quality on undersides shows up as a recurring community complaint.
- The 120 mm/h speed claim needs Anycubic High Speed Resin 2.0 at 0.1 mm layers.
- The stock ACF film trades some detail for speed versus PFA.
- Cloud and full app support are incomplete; one reviewer could not connect to the cloud.

Print quality and the ACF film
Independent testing is limited to specialist outlets. 3DWork printed 25–75 mm miniatures at 0.05 mm with Lychee and called the machine’s behavior “exceptional” once initial build-plate adhesion failures were fixed with leveling and first-layer changes. FauxHammer rated it four out of five and found print quality “very good” and competitive with sharper machines in its class. Fabbaloo printed a full plate of figurines without errors in 32 minutes and called it “near perfect” for highly detailed small items.
The stock ACF release film is the main caveat. FauxHammer measured slightly softer detail on ACF than on PFA and suggests a PFA swap for maximum sharpness at the cost of speed; 3DWork reported no quality issues with the stock ACF. Treat it as a speed-versus-detail tradeoff rather than a defect, and consider a second vat if you want both.
Speed and the light source
Anycubic claims up to 80 mm/h with standard resin and up to 120 mm/h with High Speed Resin 2.0, both at 0.1 mm layer height, and the higher figure is conditional on the resin. The COB plus Fresnel optical system is rated at 90% or better uniformity and 3500 uW/cm2 intensity. 3DWork found the intelligent parameter algorithm can save up to 40% of printing time, and FauxHammer singles out the pressure-sensing dynamic-lift system, which detects when a layer has released from the film and retracts sooner. The printer has no leveling feet, so the surface it sits on must be flat.
Quality control and repairs
The recurring caution is quality control. A Reddit owner describes the Ultra as “thoroughly modern” but says it would probably be a top tier small-format printer if not for QC issues, and community data lists concerns about Anycubic’s quality control. One thread reports a dim LCD with a circular pattern, and inconsistent underside quality appears as a recurring complaint. These are anecdotes; nobody has published a defect rate.
Repairability is above average for the class. Anycubic publishes replacement guides for the ACF film, LCD screen, motherboard, strain gauge, Wi-Fi antenna, Fresnel lens, lead-screw motor and touch screen. Routine upkeep is cleaning the Z-axis screw and lead screw and troubleshooting failed prints, network and USB issues. Warranty is one year on 3D printers, with 14-day no-reason returns and a 30-day after-sales guarantee, per Anycubic’s Canadian store page.
Is it worth it?
Ownership costs are standard for resin printing: 405 nm resin, replacement release film, isopropyl alcohol for washing, and an optional wash-and-cure station. Anycubic’s US store bundles a Wash & Cure 3 for $446 against $344 for the printer alone, and lists wash-and-cure add-ons from $102 to $205 (Anycubic US store, 2026). At the $259 to $299 street prices reviewers tested (Fabbaloo, 2025; FauxHammer, 2026), the Ultra is a strong miniature printer if you accept the quality-control risk and the ACF tradeoff. At the official US store price of $344 (2026), it is fair rather than standout, and you pay a premium over the base Mono 4 for the optics, film, screen and connectivity. Above that, larger-format machines are commonly recommended in owner discussions for batch work.
Which model this is
This page covers the ANYCUBIC Photon Mono 4 Ultra, manufacturer part PM4UBK0A-O, EAN 6974662351043. It shares its 153.4 × 87 × 165 mm build volume and 7-inch 10K LCD with the base Photon Mono 4, but adds COB plus Fresnel optics, ACF film, a 4.3-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi and LAN transfer, and pressure sensing. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0DKXPQHP6. Don’t confuse it with the base Photon Mono 4, the larger Photon M7 or M7 Max, or the Photon Mono 2.
