Summary

A small, rugged Bluetooth speaker with a claimed 24-hour battery, built for background listening and casual outdoor use. Check the water-resistance rating and the Bluetooth revision before you buy: sources disagree on both, and the two revisions cannot be paired together.

Strengths

  • Waterproof build and a rugged rubberized body that survives outdoor use and submersion.
  • Battery life is the standout: owners report days of playback at low-to-moderate volume.
  • Bluetooth range is strong, with one owner reporting whole-house coverage in a 4,000 sq ft home.
  • TWS pairing of two identical units doubles the volume and adds stereo.
  • Clear midrange makes it a decent speaker for podcasts and background music.
  • No app, no subscription, and no consumables to buy.

Weaknesses

  • Independent tests agree the low bass is weak and the output distorts at higher volumes.
  • It does not get very loud, so it struggles outdoors and in large rooms.
  • There is no companion app and no EQ to fix the tuning.
  • The 24-hour battery is a manufacturer claim; RTINGS measured 15 hours.
  • Two revisions of the same model cannot be TWS-paired with each other.
  • Soundcore sells no spare parts, so the battery is not user-replaceable.

Sound quality and volume

Every independent test found the same thing: the low bass is weak and the sound distorts at higher volumes. RTINGS says it struggles to reproduce low-bass and does not get very loud, and CNET heard the same warble on deep-bass tracks. TechRadar called it hard to think of a better speaker for under $50, but it also found the output strained outdoors. TechGearLab (2026) ranked it 14 of 15 tested speakers with a 55/100 score and criticized hollow, one-sided sound. It does fine for podcasts and background music, where the clear midrange matters more than bass.

Battery and charging

Soundcore claims up to 24 hours from the 5200mAh cell, but that is a moderate-volume figure. RTINGS measured 15 hours in its test, and owners report multiple days at low-to-moderate volume. There is no spare battery and no user-replaceable part; Soundcore sells refurbished units but no parts catalog for this model. Charging is Micro-USB on Soundcore’s own comparison page, though some retailer and TechRadar copy says USB-C.

Water resistance and build

Check the marking on your unit before trusting it to a pool. The rubberized body and the port flap are the main defense. Soundcore’s US page offers a 30-day money-back window, but the exact warranty length for this model is not stated in the sources.

Is it worth it?

Soundcore’s US store lists a single unit at $45.99, and TechGearLab lists it at $46 with a 55/100 score and a rank of 14 of 15. CNET noted a $35 launch-era price and $32 at Best Buy in 2017, and TechRadar’s review put a $33.59 price on the unit at the time. Under $30 it is strong value for a waterproof speaker; above $60, newer budget speakers with apps and better sound earn their price.

Which model this is

This page covers the Anker Soundcore 2, model A3105. The newest revision ships with Bluetooth 6.0 and the older one with Bluetooth 4.2 or 5.0; Soundcore says the new version is functionally identical apart from the upgraded Bluetooth chip. The Bluetooth version printed in the quick start guide and the seventh character of the serial number identify the revision. ASIN B01MTB55WH.
