Summary

A 5,000mAh magnetic battery with a fold-out stand that clips onto MagSafe iPhones and charges them wirelessly at 7.5W. Check the exact model before buying: A1614 is the reference version, and it is not a 15W Qi2 battery.

Strengths

  • Magnets held securely in hands-on testing, even pulling the phone from a pocket.
  • The fold-out stand holds the phone upright or on its side without another accessory.
  • Pass-through charging lets it work like a desk dock while plugged in.
  • Portable: about 140g and 12.8mm thick.
  • The single USB-C port gives a 12W wired fallback for devices that cannot attach.
  • Sold in white, gray, green, purple and blue.

Weaknesses

  • 7.5W wireless is half the speed of newer 15W Qi2 magnetic banks.
  • One charging output at a time: it cannot run a wired device while wirelessly charging a phone.
  • Heat is a recurring theme; an iPhone may pause or stop charging at 80% to manage temperature.
  • Anker does not recommend it for the iPhone 12 mini or 13 mini.
  • It adds 140–146g and a thick stacked shape to handheld use.
  • No true state-of-charge percentage display, only simple indicators.

Wireless speed and capacity

Anker estimates conversion and transfer losses leave roughly 2,750–3,250mAh equivalent, and Macworld’s test raised an iPhone 13 Pro from 5% to 85% before the bank emptied — an 80-point gain, not a full charge. Wireless charging is capped at 7.5W, while newer Qi2 banks are rated 15W; heat narrows that gap in practice.

Heat, reliability and support

Heat shows up repeatedly. Anker says wireless conversion losses can warm the bank and phone and that an iPhone may pause at 80% because of temperature management, and an r/MagSafe owner reported pulling a 622 off to cool. One Target-hosted review describes a unit that stopped working after about a year, but that is a single self-reported case, not a failure rate. Anker’s US warranty covers MagGo power banks for 24 months; claims need a receipt and, where asked, photos or troubleshooting.

Anker’s US store listed the 622 at $47.99 (October 2026), while Target color listings ran from $31.99 to $39.98 and Best Buy showed $47.99 for blue. Near that price, Anker’s Nano 5K Qi2 (A1665) at $54.99 is thinner and faster but has no kickstand, and the 633 10K (A1641) at $59.99 adds capacity and a stand.

Running costs

There is no subscription and no scheduled consumable; the bank needs an external USB-C charger. A replacement Anker A8753 two-pack cable is $9.99. An illustrative electricity estimate puts 200 full refills at about $1.20 a year at $0.20/kWh, though actual wall use was not measured.

Which model this is

This page covers the Anker 622 Magnetic Battery (MagGo), upgraded variant A1614, a magnetic-alignment charger rather than a 15W Qi2 bank. Anker’s 621, the 622 PopSockets edition, the 633 and the Qi2 Nano are different hardware.
