Screen, sound and camera
The 13 MP camera tracks movement slowly but accurately on calls, with auto-framing and 3x zoom. The display is not 4K, has no HDR, blacks read slightly grey, and the glass is reflective and picks up smudges quickly. Geeky Gadgets measured a 105 dB maximum output.
Smart home and sensors
The Echo Show 11 works as a hub for Zigbee, Matter and Thread devices, and its Omnisense sensors read temperature, light and presence for routines. Reviewers found presence detection more reliable than a traditional motion sensor. It does not act as an Eero mesh relay. Sidewalk is on by default but can be opted out.
Software and privacy
The interface is crowded, and TechRadar and Expert Reviews reported occasional touch lag or unresponsiveness that sometimes needed a reboot; TechRadar could not replicate some user-reported input delay and attributed it possibly to UI screen optimization. At launch, voice-launched streaming apps had a bug while manual launch worked. Only Netflix and Prime Video have native apps. Alexa+ is early access and US-only at launch. It will cost $19.99 per month, or $14.99 per month with a membership. Prime members get it included. There is no physical camera shutter, only a mute button that disables the mic and camera.
Is it worth it?
At the $219.99 list price the Echo Show 11 is best justified by a need for a larger tabletop screen, since the Echo Show 8 offers the same features and sound for $40 less. TechRadar rates value 3.5 on its five-point scale. Trusted Reviews recommends the smaller Echo Show 8 for most homes because the internals are identical. PCMag prefers the Show 8 overall but calls the Show 11 just as easy to recommend for larger rooms. If priced at or below the Echo Show 8’s level, it becomes a stronger value for larger rooms. A sale price of $199 was reported, and ZDNet reported $179. Optional adjustable stand costs $39.99 or $34.99 depending on source.
