Amazfit Helio Strap: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-17

Summary

A screen-free fabric-band fitness tracker that logs sleep, heart rate and recovery scores in the Zepp app with no subscription. Its weaknesses are no GPS, unreliable automatic workout detection and an easy-to-lose charger; accuracy is unverified because no lab test exists. At $99 it is a reasonable entry into screen-free recovery tracking, and there are no recurring costs.

Common problems and fixes

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

No subscription and no consumables are reported, so the recurring cost is $0. The only cost is the purchase price, $99 (Tom’s Guide, Oct 2025) or $99.99 at Macy’s / $100 at REI, plus a replacement charger if lost (no price reported). No historical pricing data was found.

When it is a good buy

At up to $100 the Helio Strap is a strong value for a screen-free, subscription-free recovery and sleep tracker. Above $100 to $120, value weakens as Fitbit and Whoop alternatives with stronger accuracy evidence become competitive. Alternatives: a Fitbit or Whoop device when you want stronger accuracy evidence and lab-tested data; the Helio Strap Pro when you need multi-sensor movement tracking (a separate, higher-end model — do not confuse it with this strap).
