Summary
A 2.5-gallon console evaporative humidifier from the largest US humidifier maker, with three fan speeds, an adjustable humidistat and an included wick. Check your winters before you buy: in cold, dry weather it struggles to lift a room above about 30 percent humidity unless you run it on high, where it is loud.
Strengths
- Three fan speeds plus an auto setting hold the humidity you pick without hand-tuning.
- Rated for up to 36 hours between refills on low.
- The digital panel shows a refill light and a wick-check light, so the two routine jobs are obvious.
- The MAF2 SuperWick is included, and AIRCARE sells replacements first-party.
- The optional demineralization cartridge lets you run tap water without worrying about mineral build-up.
- Bob Vila’s tester called it an excellent value for its coverage and price and scored it highly for value in a seven-model evaporative test.
Weaknesses
- On high, Bob Vila measured about 58 decibels and called it unpleasant for conversation or TV.
- In cold, dry weather it struggled to raise a room above about 30 percent humidity unless run on high, the loud setting.
- Wicks need replacing every few months and the basin needs cleaning regularly to avoid mold, per Bob Vila’s evaporative guidance.
- The 2,600 sq ft coverage is a maximum; real coverage falls short in cold, dry, open or high-ceiling spaces.
- The 36-hour run time is a maximum tied to low output, not a guarantee.
- No RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag test of this exact model was found, and no owner discussion threads could be retrieved.

Humidistat, output and noise
AIRCARE documents the Mini-Console for 120 V AC outlets and warns against extension cords. Bob Vila’s tester found the adjustable humidistat automatically holds 25 to 65 percent relative humidity, and the unit shuts itself off when the tank empties. Its strongest field result came early in the season, when it held a vaulted-ceiling living room near 45 percent humidity. Once outdoor weather turned cold, it struggled to climb above about 30 percent unless run on high, where Bob Vila measured roughly 58 decibels. The 36-hour run time is a maximum tied to low output; runtime depends on fan speed and ambient conditions.
Maintenance, wicks and running costs
The included MAF2 SuperWick is the consumable. Bob Vila’s general guidance for evaporative humidifiers is to replace the wick every few months and to clean the basin and change the water every day or two, to keep mold from taking hold. In its test the wick held up with two dogs and a long-haired cat in the home, and the tester needed to clean the unit only once over several months. AIRCARE sells the MAF2 SuperWick as a first-party replacement, along with an optional AU5003PK demineralization cartridge for hard-water users and an optional 7V1970 bacteriostatic treatment. Bob Vila’s tester used the demineralization cartridge so tap water was not a worry. No price for the replacement wick was found in the material reviewed.
Warranty and repairability
AIRCARE’s product page carries a two-year limited warranty banner, and its support page says the same for evaporative humidifiers in the United States and Canada. Wicks and filters are covered only 30 days as disposable components, replacement is the exclusive remedy, and Essick Air pays return freight. AIRCARE links replacement-wick videos on its support page, so the consumable channel is first-party. No evidence was found about availability of internal electrical or mechanical service parts for this model.
Is it worth it?
At $149.99 on AIRCARE’s own product page (2026-10-18), the Mini-Console sits in the middle of the console evaporative market. Bob Vila’s judgment supports value at that level: it called the model an excellent value given ease of use, coverage and price and gave it high value marks in its seven-model test. Bob Vila’s comparison table shows it is the smallest and lowest-runtime model on its list, at 2.5 gallons, up to 36 hours and up to 2,600 sq ft, next to larger 4-6 gallon units. For a buyer who needs quiet overnight operation in a bedroom, this is a weak fit; for a main living area in a dry winter climate, it is a reasonable value pick. No independent retail price outside the manufacturer’s own page was retrieved, so there is no lower price band to judge against.
Which model this is
The listing’s 2.5-gallon tank, 2,600 sq ft coverage, 36-hour run time, 16.5 × 18 × 12 inch footprint and included MAF2 SuperWick identify this as the AIRCARE Mini-Console, SKU MA0800, not the larger MA1201 Console (MAF1 wick) or the older 5D6700 Mini-Console (1040 wick). The AIRCARE Alliance whole-house line, such as the H12600, is a separate, larger console series. The retailer listing for this model is ASIN B002AQUK9S.
