Summary
A 27-inch 2560 × 1440 IPS gaming monitor that reaches up to 180 Hz over DisplayPort for a budget price, with a tilt-only stand and a 250-nit panel that limits HDR. Check the suffix before you buy: the KG271U name also covers older VA revisions, and only N3bmiipx, Acer part UM.HX1AA.307, is the IPS 180 Hz version.
Strengths
- Up to 180 Hz arrives on DisplayPort, and Acer includes both a DisplayPort cable and an HDMI cable.
- Owners and shoppers pick this model for inexpensive 1440p gaming at high refresh rates.
- Long-form reviewers of the exact N3bmiipx praise smooth 1440p high-refresh play and colour good enough for general work.
- Two HDMI 2.0 ports let a console and a PC share the panel; one owner runs it at 1440p/120 Hz on a PS5.
- VESA 100 × 100 mounting lets you replace the basic stand with an arm.
- Acer’s US warranty page states a three-year limited warranty for consumer and commercial monitors.
Weaknesses
- The stand only tilts, with no height adjustment.
- 250 nits is dim, which makes the HDR10 label compatibility rather than usable HDR.
- HDMI tops out at 144 Hz, so HDMI laptops and consoles never reach 180 Hz.
- No credible instrumented review of this exact part has surfaced, leaving contrast, colour error, real response time and input lag unmeasured.
- One owner reported DisplayPort not waking from sleep, and another posted a red curved artefact on dark screens; two isolated reports do not show how often either happens.
- Native 8-bit versus 6-bit plus FRC is unresolved, because community claims mix in older KG271U revisions.

Full research notes and sources
Which model this is
KG271U is a family name, and the revisions are not interchangeable. This page covers N3bmiipx, Acer part UM.HX1AA.307, also identified by UPC 195133252119: IPS, 2560 × 1440, up to 180 Hz. Older KG271U Pbiip and bmiipx listings are VA panels rated 144–170 Hz, and F3 variants differ again. Buy by part number, not by the base name on the box art.
The listing behind this page is ASIN B0D8LH2VSP. Retailer aggregates mix revisions, so a star rating or review count attached to that listing tells you about the KG271U name rather than about this panel.
Refresh rate and which port to use
180 Hz is the headline number, and Acer’s exact-model material puts it on DisplayPort while HDMI tops out at 144 Hz. Plug the PC into the DisplayPort input or you leave part of the refresh rate on the table. Console use is fine: one owner runs the monitor at 1440p/120 Hz on a PS5, which is inside HDMI’s reach.
Acer’s 1 ms GTG and up to 0.5 ms figures are marketing ratings. Nobody has published a measured response-time distribution, overshoot or input lag for this part, so read them as a spec sheet claim.
Brightness, colour and HDR
Acer’s own tech specs rate this panel at 250 nits, and that number sets the ceiling for everything else. The HDR10 label means the signal is accepted, not that the panel has headroom for a bright HDR image. No instrumented peak measurement exists for this model either.
The colour claim is more useful: 95% DCI-P3, which long-form reviewers of this exact model single out as good for general work. In a bright room you will still be trimming brightness and losing the fight.
Stand, parts and running costs
The stand is fixed at one height and only tilts, so plan on a different base or a monitor arm if the panel sits wrong at your desk. VESA 100 × 100 mounting makes both easy. Acer also states a tilt range of -5° to 25° and no adjustable height.
There are no consumables and no subscription. Both cables ship in the box, and replacements are generic: Acer publishes no model-specific cable or power-cord part number. A real electricity figure is hard to pin down because no exact-model power draw is published. Acer’s US warranty page states a three-year limited warranty for consumer and commercial monitors, though the exact product page does not spell out the duration. Nobody has published a failure rate for this model, so treat panel repair as the last resort rather than a repair option.
Is it worth it?
Price is the whole argument here. Acer Store US had it at $159.99 on promotion and $179.99 regular in September 2026. A Walmart Business restored listing sat at $116.69 the same month but was out of stock, which is not a new-unit price. A Newegg marketplace listing near $286 is a seller outlier and says nothing about value.
The value bands: at $140 or under it is a strong buy for a new 27-inch QHD IPS 180 Hz monitor if a basic stand and modest HDR are acceptable; $140–160 is the sweet spot; $160–180 is fair and worth comparing against QHD 180 Hz IPS panels with better stands, brighter panels or real instrumented testing; above $180 the price advantage that forgives the stand and the 250-nit panel is gone. Check the store panel above before you order.
