ACEMAGIC S3A Mini PC: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-17

Summary

The S3A pairs AMD’s Zen 4 Ryzen 7 H 255 (8 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.9 GHz) with a Radeon 780M iGPU, USB4, triple-display output and dual M.2 NVMe slots in a compact chassis. The things to check before buying: the 16GB LPDDR5 RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded, there is a single 2.5GbE LAN port, and ACEMAGIC shipped mini PCs with pre-installed malware in 2024. Storage is the one user-serviceable part, behind a magnetic cover.

When it is a good buy

ACEMAGIC’s official US store lists the H 255/16GB/512GB configuration at $499 (sale from $799), and a collections page shows $349 (sale from $599), both captured in Oct 2026. Under $350 the package is strong value; $351–$450 stays fair; $451–$550 the soldered RAM and single LAN get harder to justify; above $550, look elsewhere. An r/MiniPCs thread discusses the S3A at about €230 (5835U variant). [1][7][4]

When upgradeable RAM and dual LAN matter, the ACEMAGIC F5A or AM18 (dual 2.5GbE) is the better choice within the brand; above $550, machines with upgradeable RAM, stronger independent testing and more established service networks are the better bet. [1][2]
