Summary
A single-channel 1080p dash cam whose lens swivels 340° to watch the front, sides and cabin of the car. It is for drivers who want near-360° parking coverage from one camera, so check that the rotating unit can record 1080p HDR at 60 fps before you buy.
Strengths
- The 340° swivel plus the 140° lens reaches the front, sides and cabin from one camera.
- GPS, ADAS alerts and voice control are built in.
- Storage is built in, so there is no memory card to buy or lose.
- Wi-Fi app access, in-app firmware updates and 128GB eMMC come on the tested 128GB unit.
- The body sits discreetly on the windshield and feels solidly made.
Weaknesses
- AI threat tracking never worked for at least two owners, though one got it running with the UP04 kit.
- You must create a 70mai account and register the camera before it will record.
- Night cabin recording is weak because there is no infrared light.
- Some users could not combine HDR with 60 fps, even though CNET’s unit recorded both.
- Storage is fixed, so the camera’s working life is tied to its built-in eMMC.

Which model this is
This page covers the first-generation 70mai Dash Cam Omni, the 2022 single-channel 1080p unit with the rotating lens. Some markets sell the same hardware as the Omni X200. Storage is built-in eMMC in 32GB, 64GB or 128GB, and the official US store lists black and red/white colorways. The US 128GB listing is ASIN B0C36GPMFR.
Do not confuse it with the 2025 70mai Dash Cam 4K Omni (X800-2), a different, higher-resolution successor.
The rotating lens and video quality
The lens sits on a stepping motor and turns 340°, so with its 140° field of view the camera can aim at the front, the sides and the cabin without extra units. PCWorld’s 2023 hands-on called the 1080p footage “very colorful and detailed”, comparing well with many 1440p and 2160p dash cams; night detail and color held up and headlight flare was handled well, with only occasional shimmer and moire in playback. CNET found the body discreet on the glass and the footage clear in daylight and at night. TechRadar was more guarded, noting other dash cams record better. None of the three hands-on reviews published measured low-light data, bitrate or plate-reading distances, so treat the praise as a hands-on impression rather than lab scores.
Parking surveillance and the hardwire kit
AI parking mode is the feature the Omni is built around: on an impact or movement it pans the lens toward the source and saves a 30-second clip. It only runs with a 70mai hardwire kit, and the results are mixed. On DashCamTalk the reviewing owner said threat tracking “never” worked and a second owner reported the same, while a third owner says it works with the UP04 4G kit. CNET cited the UP03 hardwire kit at $20 as the park-mode power source. The 300 mAh battery is not for parking — it only saves one clip after the car loses power.
Storage, setup and running costs
Storage is built-in eMMC in 32GB, 64GB or 128GB, and the camera overwrites the oldest clips once it fills, so you manage space instead of swapping cards. The official FAQ raises the question of a memory card but the answer was not available, so budget as if storage cannot be expanded. A 70mai account and device registration are required before recording, and voice control is English only. 70mai’s own support content warns that a hot cabin can trigger an automatic shutdown. No memory-card purchase is needed.
Is it worth it?
The Omni was priced at $199.99 when PCWorld reviewed it in April 2023 and at $159 when CNET reviewed it in December 2023; the official 70mai US store later listed it at $79.99, marked down 15% from $99.99. Below about $100 the rotating lens and the included 128GB storage make it a distinctive pick; above roughly $150 you pay for the mechanism while the sensor stays at 1080p, and 70mai’s own 4K Omni now sits in that class. The catch is the parking feature at the centre of the pitch: treat AI threat tracking as unproven on a given unit until you test it.
